| The Sanyo SCp 5300. A phone for the true gadget lover. A small, amazing and convenient phone made for the gadgeteer in all of us. Its slim, sleek design and amazing features make it a very attractive phone. One of my favourite elements of the phone is the built in VGA digital camera. You can take pictures in three different modes: high (640x480 pixels; 10 to 15 images), medium (320x240; 30 to 68 images), and low (160x120 pixels; 63 to 74 images). there is also a built-in flash that doesn't have much of an effect on photos and a self-timer,white-balance, color-tone, and zoom settings. You can even save images to the phone, upload the pictures to the Sprint PCS Web site, and send the URL to a friend. If you decide to share your photos, know that unless you are e-mailing them to another Sprint PCS Vision mobile, the recipient receives only a URL address where the pictures can be viewed. Keep in mind that capturing and delivering high-quality images is not the goal of this new breed of phone. They are mainly used for caller ID. In fact, the images are mediocre at best and are not suitable for printing. However, the 5300's built-in camera produces better images than the camera attachment for Samsung's A500. It also has downloadable games and screensavers. Another great feature is its "Airplane Mode" which allows you to play the games without actually having the cellphone turned on. The reception is clear, and is usually not noticable that you are speaking on a cellphone. Its optional accessories are two handsfree headsets: the Jabra FreeSpeak Bluetooth headset with 2.5mm adapter, and the Belkin Universal 2.5mm Jack, Personal Hands-Free Kit. The Sanyo SCp 5300 -- a fantastic, futuristic phone. Four gears out of five! |
