Gackt komt uit een familie waar muziek erg belangrijk was. Op 3-jarige leeftijd moest hij van z'n ouders piano leren spelen. Op zeven-jarige leeftijd werd hij het klassieke muziek spelen op de piano zat en mocht uiteindelijk op z'n 11e stoppen, na veel gezeur en moeite.
op 14 jarige leeftijd voelde hij zich weer aangetrokke door het instrument en begon hij ook andere instrumenten te bespelen.
In 1995 begon hij z'n cariere in Malice Mizer, als pianist en zanger.
Na een tijdje stapte hij op en begon een solo-cariere. In 1999 ontstond Gackt-job, en in 2002 bracht hij z'n eerste officieele single "Another world" uit.

Gackt comes from a family where music was really important. At 3 years his parents told him, he had to play the piano.
At seven years old he got bored on playing classical music and was allowed to stop on his 11th, after lots of trouble and fights. When he was 14 years old he got interested in the piano again and started to learn playing other instruments too.
In 1995 he started his career in Malice Mizer as a pianist, vocalist.
After a while he stepped out of the band and started his solo-career. In 1999 Gackt-job backed him up and in 2002 he released the first single " Another world"
