| My name is Gabrielle and I am a current student enrolled at the University of North Texas. I am currently studying Art History. | Every 6 seconds someone new is infected with HIV. That means that within 1 hour 600 new people are infected with HIV. Currently the worldwide population stands at 6,358,719,837 while the United States' population stands at 292,959,011. In light of these facts, every day 14,400 people are infected with HIV. If one were to inquire further they would find that this equates to 441,578 people worldwide who are newly infected with HIV daily and a little over 20% of the American population who are also infected daily. Do these numbers sound surprising? What if I were to tell you that according to these statistics a little over 10% of the population of Chicago,IL would be infected with HIV. Also, America makes up 22% of the population worldwide infected with HIV. These are some pretty scary statistics-want to know what you can do to reduce them? Read on! |
| This is the Absinthe by Degas. This is an impressionistic painting done in 1875 and is one of the artist's most depressing works. This particular piece caused a scandal in London, where it was sold, and in Paris, when shown at the Impressionists' third exhibition in 1877, because it appears to depict a down-at-heel prostitute. However, the composition was praised for its innovative perspective. Degas makes use of one of his favorite conventions, placing figures slightly off-center and with a large intervening space in the foreground. Note that the table tops illustrate this while enclosing the figures. This painting is also noted for Degas' lack of prepatory drawings and sketchings before beginning and completing the composition. |

| If you are engaging in sexual activity with a new partner ask them if they have been tested. If they have, ASK TO SEE THE RESULTS. ( 42% of men will lie in order to continue intercourse) if they have not, DO NOT HAVE INTERCOURSE WITH THEM UNTIL THEY HAVE BEEN TESTED AND YOU HAVE SEEN THE RESULTS. |

| Chicago researchers have found that every hour preschoolers watch television their chances of having ADD later in life (Attention Deficit Disorder) boosts by 10%. First, I want to know what parent puts their preschooler in front of the TV for more than one hour at a time? If that is the case, than I think that child has more risk of developing a psychological disorder related to the lack of parent involvement and discipline rather than ADD. So, I would just like to say that to those of you who think this stat. might be pertinent to your child- GO BUY TOYS AND MAKE BEING A PART OF YOUR CHILD'S LIFE A TOP PRIORITY! Thank You. |
