Though she was betrothed to a young farmer called Perdicus, Gabrielle wasn't ready to settle down. She longed for adventure and, one day, her wish came true. Captured with her friends by slavers while doing the wash at the river, Gabrielle feared for her life... but suddenly, a fierce woman warrior appeared and saved the village women from certain slavery.
The woman was Xena, Warrior Princess.
Intrigued and impressed by the warrior's skill, Gabrielle decided that it was time to leave Poteidaia behind and travel to fulfil her destiny. She wanted to be a warrior like Xena. At first, the Warrior Princess refused to take her along but the young bard sneaked out in the middle of the night and followed her.When Gabrielle saved Xena from being stoned by the warrior's own townsfolk, she relented and let the girl travel with her.
And so began the greatest friendship of their lives...
