Title: Return to Twilight
By: ~Jenny~
Summary: Well I hated the way they ended the whole twilight thing so I'm changing it a bit. This story isn't completely G/A but the sequel will be. I just wanted this whole twilight nonsense out of the way first.
Rating: G basically.
Category: G/A
Disclaimer: I don't own ANYTHING here but the original plot. And I'm not making any money out of it either.
Feedback: If you want...I guess.

Gabrielle sat up on her bed at the inn. It was so hot and she was all clammy. She sighed and jumped off the bed to get dressed. She slowly opened the door and walked out into the dimly lit hallway. Apparently Eve and Xena didn't have any troubles at sleeping. The stairs creaked as she tried to tiptoe down them softly. The main room was empty except for the innkeeper, half-asleep with his head on his arm. Gabrielle shook him a bit.

"What?" He mumbled, looking at her. She noticed his brown eyes weren't quite focused.

"I'm going for a ride. If my friends wake up and ask where I am..."

"Okay, okay." He grumbled. She went out the back door to the stables and grabbed her horse. The stable boy was asleep too, in a pile of hay. Gabrielle shook her head in disgust- what if someone came and stole the horses? When she went out onto the main road, she realized that no one was there. Trying to keep her horse as quiet as she could, she walked it down the road and into the woods. Only when she got there did she admire how quiet the town really was. The forest was still alive with cicadas and crickets screeching in their own obnoxious little way. What was wrong with her? She usually enjoyed the sounds of the forest. She mounted the horse and cantered down to the other end of the forest, which opened out to a vast plain. As soon as she reached the edge she started galloping around the field, cooling her down. All of a sudden a woman wearing very pink pajamas appeared near the trees.

"Whoa..." Gabrielle stopped the horse and jumped off. One of the only goddesses left walked up to her.

"Hi Gabrielle," she said warmly.

"Hello Aphrodite," Gabrielle replied, looking at her quizzically.

"Oh, well I was in my bed looking at some people..." She started to explain. Gabrielle gave her a pointed look.

"Oh alright Gabby, they were men." Gabrielle smiled at the Goddess of Love.

"Obviously," Gabrielle said. Aphrodite grinned.

"Anyway, then when I realized that all of them were being boring and just sleeping..." Aphrodite ignored some sounds that Gabrielle made while trying not to laugh, "I decided to check on my favorite mortal."

"I'm honored."

"Gabrielle, life is boring now." Aphrodite said, smile fading. "My father is dead, Hera is dead... and she was always nice to me."

"Probably because she was always concentrating too hard on killing Hercules," Gabrielle told her, tying her horse to a tree and sitting down on a patch of grass.

"Maybe. Look Gabrielle I know Xena did what she had to do but it's horrible. Hades' sons are trying to keep the underworld in control. My cousins are good but uncle is always better. Everything is total chaos down there. They're getting about half of the cases done. The gods up there are getting rowdy without my father. Apollo is trying to keep things in control up there, which is probably why he hasn't come down for Xena yet to avenge his twin. He did love Artemis a lot, you know." Gabrielle shot her an alarmed look. Aphrodite put up her hands as she bent down to sit next to Gabrielle on a small chair she just conjured up.

"Oh no, I don't think he'll get here within the next century or so Gabby, he's up to his ears in work he was never prepared to take on. But Gabby, now basically the only one I can talk to is..."

"Ares," Gabrielle finished for her, hiding a smile.

"Yes and he's no fun! Cupid is busy, he's always busy, so I'm stuck with Ares."

"Wait, didn't you have a fling with him once or twice? Isn't he like a father to most of your kids?" Gabrielle asked.

"Well yeah, but he was never really nice to talk to," she whined. That did it, Gabrielle started laughing uncontrollably. In the end Aphrodite started laughing too, but then she stopped.

"I'm going to get them back Gabrielle." She said seriously. That stopped Gabrielle's laughing.

"What? Your family, how?" She asked.

"By going into the past Gabby."

"You're what?"

"I just came up with the idea when I was watching you in my temple."

"Whoa, wait a minute. How are you going to do this?" Gabrielle had a skeptical look on her face.

"I think my bro Ares did it once. But I'm gonna try something different. He just sent someone back in time so there were two of them. I'm going to put my soul, literally, in my body then so there are just one of me and I still have my memories of the past 25 years."

"So if you do change the past..." Gabrielle asked slowly.

"Then I live out the past 25 years again, all of this would happen again differently." She gestured with her hand all around them. Gabrielle assumed she meant the world.

"And you would keep the memories?"

"Yeah, so..." Aphrodite waved her hand and her clothes changed to what she normally wears. She looked at Gabrielle expectantly.

"So..." Gabrielle echoed.

"When do we leave?" Aphrodite asked. Gabrielle choked.

"We?" She almost shouted.

"Well yes, you're smart and I could use the help. I'm not...so smart. Hey that's Athena's department." Aphrodite stood up and looked down at her.

"What...what about Xena, what about Eve?" Gabrielle spluttered.

"They would want it too, I mean then that whole thing with Livia would've never happened."

"Well will Xena keep her memories? Can we take her with us?" Gabrielle also stood up.

"No Gabbers." The goddess sighed. "This type of time travel is harder than my bro's kind. Dragging Xena along will only make it tougher on me and I want to take us to the place where my father was about to kill Hera. I don't think I'm powerful enough to go any further back with a passenger. Anyway Xena's awareness would be placed into a woman only a few hours away from child birth. She can't help us." She looked at the bard but Gabrielle was still absorbing the first bit of information.

"Zeus killed Hera!?" Gabrielle asked, shocked.

"Well after Hera helped Hercules and Zeus found her she disappeared. I would say it's a definite possibility Gabby."

"Oh god."

"Yes?" Aphrodite answered. Gabrielle's grin returned.

"No offense Dite, but you can't be my god...uh, goddess. I don't really have one...anymore but if I did it wouldn't be the Goddess of Love. My love life is...well never mind." Aphrodite grinned back.

"So..." Aphrodite repeated herself.

"I'm with you Dite," Gabrielle said, making up her mind and praying that she made the right decision.

"Good." Aphrodite grabbed Gabrielle's hands and they both disappeared in a flash of pink light.

Gabrielle opened her eyes and found herself fighting staring at Xena, who had a rib of Cronos in her hands and was on her knees in pain. She quickly moved to Xena's side. She was pregnant, Gabrielle thought. It worked. All of the sudden Aphrodite appeared by her side.

"Aphrodite?" Both Xena and Hercules cried.

"No time to explain, take care of Xena bro." And with that she grabbed Gabrielle and disappeared with her. Xena moans and Hercules goes to her.
