Chapter 20

Gabben lay in his bed really sore. All his wounds were healed but his body was very hot from a fever. Sweat kept rolling down his face but he was to tired and sore to even wipe it off. Dag climb snuck into Gabbens room and sat next to him. Hed help wipe his face but he wished he could do more. The fever was apart of a potion to heal his wounds. Dag kept saying how sorry he was and that it would never happen again. Finally Gabben yelled for him to shut up and get out. Dag walked out his head hanging down. Gabben had become depressed lately and no one knew why, no one but the Gabbie, and Doug.

Gabbie was sitting on Dougs lap as they heard Gabben yell and Dag walk away. Gabbie looked down with a sad look in her eyes. The hurt that Doug saw was enough to make him cry. He rubbed her shoulder as she rested her head on his.

We have to do something. We leave for school in 3 days

Will he be better then? Doug asked

Father Peter said that he should, but Im not sure if his anger will be.

You know him. Its like this for a month then hes fine.

He doesnt let go very easily one day its going to really hurt him I know it.

I do too I hope it wont happen though Ill go take to him. Doug said slowly getting up. Gabbie kissed him and sat down on the couch and pulled over a book.

Gabben lay on his bed growling up and the ceiling. Doug slowly walked in and sat on a chair next to the bed where Dag was sitting minutes before. Gabben didnt even react to the new presence in his room. Doug put on a sad smile and looked at Gabben.

How is Dag doing?

Fine. Gabben said in a hard tone.

Good ummm Krel went to stay with her parents after the ball.

I know.

Did she come to say good-bye?

Yes.

Ashley went home as well.

I know.

When her brother Elijah I think is his name. When he heard that a werewolf was hanging around here he came and got her.

I KNOW DOUG!

Sorry Gabbies going mad worrying about you

I bet.

Come on mate come off it. You do this ever time of year. Would Amos want you to do this?

I dont know what he would want me to do hes dead.

Gabben you need to let go. Doug said standing up. Gabben didnt say anything. Doug pulled out a letter.

Well someone left this for you. When you get over this you should read it. It looks important. Doug put the letter on Gabbens bed side table and walked out. Gabben rolled over his back to the letter. The letter was like a bright light next to Gabbens head as he tried to sleep. After a few hours he picked up the letter and opened it. He read it threw and jumped out of bed and ran out of his room.
