BACK AN HOUR OR SO�
�So� are you who I think you are?� Gabben asked the girl an hour later. They had stopped dancing and were now sit by a tree. The girl had her hand in Gabbens now. Gabben kept looking at her trying to figure out how he knew her.
�Well� who do you think I am?� She asked looking up at the sky. She had a warm smile on her face that could make anyone happy.
�Are you� are you the girl from the lake?� Gabben asked. The second he said these words he felt stupid. �Ahhhh that sounded so dumb Gardner�� Gabben ran a hand threw his hair getting nervous again. The girl started to laugh a little turning to Gabben.
�What do you think?� She asked with a smirk. Gabben smirked back.
�Well I wouldn�t have asked if I knew now would I?� They both laughed a little, she then turned and kissed his cheek.
�Yes� I am.� Gabben�s smile got bigger, and then he turned a little red.
�You seem to know me, but �well I don�t know who you are.� Gabben said still confused as to who she was.
�You�ll find out by the end of to night.� Gabben smiled more.
�If I can�t know who you are can I get to know you better?� Gabben asked looking up at the sky now. The girl turned and gave him an odd look.
�What do you mean?� Gabben laughed a little and turned to her.
�What do you want to do with your life after school? I�m guessing your still in school?�
�Ha yes I am still in school. I�m not really sure. I always kind of wanted to teach. What about you?� She asked looking back up at the sky with him.
�Protect people. The people I love. There aren�t very many of them left. My grandfather and Father Peter said I was born to protect the one�s who can�t. I�ve been trained to fight ever sense I was 11.� Gabben said with a smile at the thought. But the girl frowned.
�That sounds like there making you into some kind of weapon. Making you the weapon to protect them from there fears.� She said turning to look at him. Gabben frowned and looked at her.
�It�s not like that at all. It�s why I was born. It is my destiny to protect others.�
�Ok� but there has to be something you want to be.� She gave him a smile and looked at him as though she was looking threw him. Gabben thought about it. What did he want to be?
�A father� To have children of my own. I never really knew my parents. I would just like to be a dad. Have a family of my own.� Gabben smiled at the thought. The girl opened her mouth to say something when there was a loud roar that went threw the forest. Gabben and the girl jumped up at the sound. The bells for midnight started to go off.
�Run� I�ll hold them off. Tell everyone to get inside.� Gabben said standing in front of her. She nodded but still stood there.
�What about you?�
�I�ll be fine. Now go!� Gabben growled getting ready. She turned and ran off to the dance floor.
�Everyone get inside now!!!� Father Peter yelled as he rushed everyone into the castle. The masks were starting to fall away slowly as the bells rang. People were screaming and running around everywhere. In the middle of the crowd were Douglas and Gabbie. People were getting so scared that they were starting to hit people out of the way. Doug jumped in front of Gabbie as someone tried to kick her out of the way. Doug picked the man up and threw him over the crowd. Gabbie could now see half of his face and now knew who she was dancing with. Doug grabbed her hand as they ran inside. Doug ran them up stairs to the sitting room. Doug burst the door open and Gabbie and Doug ran inside. Doug locked the door and sat in front of it. There masks gone now. Doug sat down rubbing the sweat out of his eyes.
�Are you� ok?� He asked still rubbing his eyes. Gabbie slowly walked over to him. Doug looked up at her. �Oh no� she�s going to slap me I just know it.� Doug thought to himself. But that was the last thing she was going to do. She cupped his face in her hands and kissed him. Doug was so shocked at first but them he started to slowly kiss her back.
Back in the forest Gabben changed into a lion and stood his ground. One werewolf walked out over to him growling. Gabben slowly walked over to him.
�Hello Dag� did you take your potion?� Gabben asked in a low growling voice. The werewolf growled and jumped on Gabben�s back trying to rip his fur off. Gabben roared in pain and flipped Dag off his back.
�I�ll take that as a no�� Gabben said as he kicked Dag into a near by tree with his back legs. Dag jumped back up and ran head first into Gabbens ribs. Gabben fell over and let out a loud roar of pain. Dag started trying to bite Gabbens neck. But Gabben bite down hard on Dag�s paw. Just then a cloud went over the moon. Dag fell to the ground passed out. Gabben changed back and pulled his wand out. He yelled a spell making Dag fall asleep. Gabben put his wand away and fell to his knee�s passing out.
Back up at the castle all the guests were in the main hall. All with scared faces as they looked at another wondering what was going on. Father Peter walked around looking to see how everyone was doing, and telling them to
�Not be scared.� He walked over to a girl in a blue mask. He sat down next to her.
�Thank you for warning us. If you hadn�t people would have gotten hurt.� He said rubbing her shoulder.
�Is�is� is Gabben back yet?� She asked as a few tears went down her face. Father Peter put on a warm smile. He never knew someone other then Gabben�s grandfather and parents that cared about him so much.
