| Chapter 7 Doug's POV: "SKOGEN SEGER!" Men all around me were yelling and pulling wands out. I looked over and saw Gabben talking to Leader Bjrn. I couldn't help but smile. If anyone could get a group of death eaters in a trap it was my best mate Gabben Gardner. "Brown! Take the lead with Bannister! You know what to do." William Bannister was a new trainee but was the only other known 'striker'. Strikers we're able to turn they're own wands into a sword. A striker could still cast spells with the sword but the spells were 5 times stronger. William had brown hair with blonde tips at the end. He also had brown eyes and was about 60 tall. William wasnt very talkative but when the time was right he would talk your ear off. William Bannister walked up to me stone faced. He nodded and I nodded back we left the group and went into the bushes. I ran a hand over my new black hair. I had always had blonde hair but it changed right after I learned the striker spell. The healer's didn't know why but it was ok. My girl friend Gabbie said she liked it black. A smile ran over my lips as I remembered Gabbie. "You take the right, I'll take the left, will meet in the middle." William said with a smile. I smiled back. "Lets have some fun Billy... William tapped his head with his wand in a kind of solute then walked off. ******************** Spells were flying past my head as I ran into the battle. Two death eaters lay on the ground not moving by my feet. I bent down and looked them over. They were still alive. I hated to kill, but in my line of work I had no choice. Kill or get killed. Right as I started to stand up a spell cut into my shoulder. I spun around and saw a death eater running at me sending spells. My wand now a sword went up to meet him. "Not today mate!" An ice storm burst out of my sword and snaked around the death eater. The death eater started telling in pain. He tried to run away but his movement slowly got slower. Within seconds the death eater turned into a block of ice. I ran past him to another death eater and cut his wand in half with a small flick of my sword. "BROWN! Valla ut!" (Watch out!) I fell to the ground flat on my stomach just missing a spell. I looked up and saw the spell hit someone else. It went right into Gabben chest. Blood started to show up on Gabbens robes. He looked down and touched his chest. He pulled his hand back up to his face. He was holding his own warm blood. He fell to the ground not moving. His eyes looked glassed over then they closed. Fear and anger ran over my body. I stood up and pointed my sword at the one who cast the spell. "Chegra!" The death eater fell back to the ground passed out. The spell I sent at him was a spell that makes a person pass out then feel pain until they are awake. I ran over to Gabben and pulled his robes off looking at a large slash on his chest. The spell had just missed his heart by an inch. I looked around and saw that the spells had died away. No death eaters were up, only soldiers. I turned to Gabben and looked him over. He was still breathing but just barely. I picked him up, tears now in my eyes. Come on mate... you have to wake up. William came up next to me with Leader Bjrn in his arms. William saw my tears and nodded. We have to get out of here Douglas... Some of them got away. More will be coming soon. We ran back into camp over to the healer's tent. William set Leader Bjrn and I set Gabben in the small cots. A young man that looked to be my age came in the tent. He had short brown hair that was a little lighter then Williams and brown eyes. He was about 6in taller then me. He had a healer's patch on his shoulder under the S.A.M. war crest. Without saying a word to us he went to Leader Bjrn first. After a minute a muggle IV was in his arm with a healing potion going into his body. William and I stood back watching, after a minute William pulled my arm to go out of the tent. Gabben looked so pale and I couldn't tell if his chest was rising or not. Gabben had been my best mate forever. If he died... no he has been in worse shape before... After a minute I walked out of the tent and sat in front of it. William had left to go report to a Leader about what had happened and to look in on the prisoners. I sat watching the camp. Men were running around every where. William was right, more death eaters came. The solders kept them in the forest away from the camp. I sat and watched as a second team of men ran into the forest. After an hour the healer walked out and stood in front of me. "James McNeven, Leader #3 and head healer for S.A.M." "Will Gabben and Leader Bjrn be okay Leader McNeven?" The healer smiled as he put his wand back in his robes. "Call me James, and yes he will be just fine." James pulled a paper out of his robes and handed it to me. It had the S.A.M war crest in the middle and a few blood stains in odd places but I could still read it. I opened it and my mouth fell to the floor. I had moved up a rank. Gabben, William and I were now leader #3's! That meant we could have our own troops, and move out of the dorm's in the S.A.M castle training center. "Welcome Leader Brown. I can't wait to see what you can do for the Swedish Army of Magic." |
