I am a jack of all arts but master of none. Following are
some of my endeavors.
I learnt to play
Carnatic music on the saxophone from none other than
Sri. Kadri Gopalnath.
Sri. Kadri Gopalnath is one of the best personalities I have ever met
in my life. Although being the uncrowned king of the Indian classical
(Instrumental) music, he is one of the most humble, simple and
scintillating person I have ever met. I spent most of my
time with him for over two years by serving him as his student and his
personal assistant like an olden day shisya.
I am an amateur painter interested in painting
line drawings and silhouettes. I
particularly enjoy facsimileing Silpi's paintings.
Silpi Mahadevan, not known to many, was
a disciple of Mali and was
popular among contemporary artists for his line art. There is hardly a Hindu
deity or a temple in India that he hasn't sketched.
My father wanted
me to learn the sacred Vedas at an age when I wasn't interested in it. He made
me attend classes for few months. I learnt Sri Rudram and Sri Vishnu Sahasranama from
a Vedic pundit. Since I was not interested in it then, I discontinued
it against my father's wish. I now repent for it and have begun
learning myself from cassettes and online resources. One of the best
online resource for learning Vaishnavaite slokas is the
prapatti.com.
I
like the infinite number series like pi and prime numbers. Am an elite
member of the Pi 100 club. I have also tried writing some programs to
visualize pi and prime numbers in 2D and 3D space.
