11. Robert Eugene EDWARDS. Born on 4 Dec 1913 in Unity, Maine; died in Albany, GA, on 23 May 1995; he was buried in Macon, GA.
Robert graduated from Unity High School in Unity, Maine in 1931; he work as a sale clerk for 3 years & in 1939 he begin working for J. H. Farwell & Sons, a general store on Depot St. in Unity, were he was incharge of the day to day operation.
He was inducted into the Army on Aug. 20, 1943 & entried active service on Sept. 11, 1943 in Brewer, Maine; basic training was at Fort Gordon, Bibb, Georgia. Robert serviced in the Central Europe Campaign & was part of the Battle of the Rhileland. He recived the following decorations: American Theater Service Ribbon;
WW II Victory Medal; Good Conduct Medal & EAMET Service Medal. Robert was dicharged on Feb. 8, 1946.
Robert & family moved back to Unity, Maine around Oct. of 1950 & back to Macon before Dec. of 1951 where they settled & Robert worked for a time at Sears & Robuck Comp. before becoming a civil service employee at Warner Robins A. F. Base where he work in Radar & Ground Communication until his retirment in Jan. of 1975.
After leaving the civil service he worked for 13 years as care taker & maintains for the Methodist Children Home in Macon,GA.
On 24 Mar 1944 when Robert Eugene was 30, he married Harriett Ellen WAGNER, daughter of Earle Crawford WAGNER (1889-1940) & Dana Ruth HOWELL (1900-1976), in Macon, Georgia. Born on 16 Feb 1926 in Denmark, S.C. Harriett Ellen died in Macon, GA, on 4 Dec 1994; she was 68. Buried in Macon, GA.
