| This section of the site is dedicated to The Cure.... I know that most of you reading these lines won't have a clue of who they are or maybe you have just heard of them, however you ought to belive me...a music site without a tribute to the Cure is not quite complete...In the next few pages you will find plenty of pictures of the band...and of course a short biography of the band (which by the way is not taken from any other site...it is written by me!)....I hope you will enjoy this section whose only purpose is to introduce you to one of the greatest bands of our century! Just this... |
| A SHORT BIOGRAPHY OF A HUGE BAND! |
![]() |
| The Cure started off in the late 1970s from a small town is Sussex, to be more precise in 1976 , when schoolmates Robert Smith (leading guitarist and vocals), Michael Dempsey (bass) and Laurence "Lol" Tolhurst (drums) decided to form the Easy Cure!....Anyway Im not going to narrate the whole story because we are talking about 26 years of existance of the band! What I am going to do instead in the next lines is to present you the current members of the Cure, make a list of their albums (and let you know which you should try to buy) and finally try to introduce you to their musical style which belive me is quite strange and has changed a few times within the past decades. So...on the drums we have Jason Cooper (first guy in the picture), Robert Smith who is the mastermind of the Cure in fact he is the composer, lyrics writer, singer and 2nd guitarist (2nd from left), Perry Bamonte who is the leading guitarist (3rd from left), Simon Gallup the bass player (4th from left) and finally keyboard player Roger O' Donnell. Now the albums....well to tell you the truth I really like all of them however it would be a good start for someone that has never heard of them to listen to: 1) Greatest hits (it was released this year and is a compilation of some of their hits) 2) Bloodflowers ( their last work released in 2000) 3) Disintegration (released in 1989-my favourite even though it is quite gloomy and dark) 4 Boys don't cry (released in 1980 it is their second album) ][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] As you can understand since they have been making music from the late 70s their gama of musical style is quite wide...they were the generators of Goth-Rock wich can mainly be found in their 80s albums, in a later stage they moved towards a popish-glam style (early 90s) and from that time on they returned to a more atmospheric rock sound (Bloodflowers)...well if you want a more technical term their music can be characterized as Post Punk, Goth Rock, New wave and Alternative rock-pop!!! Don't ask me for further info on these styles....its going to take me another page to explain!!! Anyway...thats my short short biography....now you can go and check out their pics! Sloukos |
