My Boss's Daughter
Overview: Tom Stansfield is looking for a break at work. He also has
his eye on co worker Lisa Taylor, who happens to
be the Boss's Daughter. In a misunderstanding, Lisa invites Tom to
the house. He thinks it is for a date. It's really to house
sit while she goes out.
My Rating: OK. Some funny Moments with Ashton Kutcher and Tara Reid. Add in a stoned Owl, you got yourself a movie.
More Detail. Tom (Kutcher) is interviewing for a new position at
work. Mr. Taylor, the Boss, is one of the strictest
people. During the interview, Taylor's Secretary, played by Molly
Shannon, serves them coffee. They both agree it is bad.
Tom makes a comment and Taylor fires his Secretary.
Tom leaves the office and sees Lisa (Reid). They start talking and
she mentions a party, but she can't go because her Dad
needs her to house sit. Tom tells her she should do what she wants,
she's an adult. She asks Tom if he has any plans. He
tells her no and she asks him to be at the house by 7:00.
Tom shows up thinking it is a date but he is now the house sitter.
Mr. Taylor goes over specific rules to the house, including
how to care for the Owl.
Once Taylor leaves madness ensues.
The Secretary comes to the house with her boyfriend looking to get
her job back. She gets into a fight with her boyfriend and
he leaves her there. Taylor's son shows up and gives a brown package
to Tom that one of his Father's business guys will be
by to pick up.
The package was suppose to be drugs, but the son wants out of the
business so he dumps the coke down the toilet and gives
Tom flour to give the dealer.
The Secretary has invited some of her friends over and they are making a mess of the house.
Tom hears some noises and it is the owl, it needs water. In a panic
he picks the bird up and lets it drink from the toilet. The
bird does not fly, not since its mate died. But now that it is hopped
up on drugs, it flies out the door when the pizza guy comes.
The rest of the movie is pretty much Tom trying to get the bird back,
keep the house in order, tell Lisa, who is home from
the party, how he feels about her, and try to iron things our with a
pissed off drug dealer.
School of Rock
Overview: Dewey's dream is to make it in a rock and roll band. His
band fires him leaving him broke. His roommates are
on him to come up with money for rent. Dewey takes his roommates
place as a substitute teacher. There he forms a rock
band.
My Rating: I loved it. Jack Black is funny. the music was awesome. Great movie.
More Detail: After getting fired from the band he helped form, Dewey
is desperate. He and his roommate are former band
mates and friends, but his friends girlfriend is fed up with his
leeching. Dewey has to come up with the rent money or he
will be kicked out. Dewey tries to sell one of his guitars. He gets a
call for his roommate, Ned, who is a substitute teacher.
Dewey pretends to be Ned and takes the job to get some money. When he
arrives to the school he wants nothing to do
with teaching. He tells the kids to do what they want and he just
sits back. The school is a prestigious prep school and most
of the kids want to learn.
Dewey finds out they have a music program and over hears the kids
playing. The big battle of the bands contest is coming
up and Dewey's mind kicks into overdrive. He tells the kids that they
are going to work on a school project called rock
band. He finds things for all the kids to do, singers, guitar, bass,
security, groupies, roadies, they have it all. Securities first
job is to keep a look out so they do not get caught by the principal
while they practice.
Dewey also has to get over the hurdle of the music the kids listen to
today, Christina, Puff Daddy, Liza Minelli. Dewey
takes the principal out for a couple drinks and gets her drunk. He
gets her to agree to a field trip for the class. He tells
her it is a Mozart concert but in reality it is the battle of the bands.
Prior to battle of the bands, teacher parent night comes. Dewey is
getting ready when his roommate Ned gets a check from
the school. Dewey tells him what he did and promises to come clean
after the gig. Ned's girlfriend finds out and shows
up at parent teacher night with the police.
The next day the parents are all at the school yelling at the
principal. There kids take off and go pick up Dewey. They
arrive at the show just in time. They play a song written by the 10
year old guitar player. They don't win but their parents
see how good they are. the audience also calls them out for an encore.
In the End, Dewey becomes a music teacher for the after school, school or rock program.
Cabin Fever
Overview: 5 friends rent a cabin for the weekend. After a gravely
sick person tries to steal their car, the kids start to
get sick themselves one by one.
My Rating: Not bad. I had heard the movie sucked, so my expectations
going in were low. Good effects in the flesh eating
disease.
More Detail: Jeff, Paul, Bert, Karen and Marcy all go to a cabin in
the woods for vacation. The cabin is located in a small
hick town. The stop at a store to buy supplies. One of the owners
sons bites Bert. Apparently it is common knowledge in
town not to sit next to the boy. While shopping the kids find bottles
of wolf piss. They ask what it is for and the old man
says for wolves. They then ask what the gun is for and he says the
niggers. (Remember this, it comes into play at the end).
The kids arrive at the cabin. Jeff and Marcy retire to a room to make
love. Paul and Karen go to the lake, Bert gets his
gun to Hunt Squirrel. When asked why he would soot a squirrel, he
replies because they are gay. Paul and Karen have
been friends since the 7th grade. Paul is hoping to use this weekend
to become more then friends. On the raft they share
a kiss before Karen swims away.
While hunting Bert accidently shoots a man, it is a BB gun. The man
is very sick and keeps coming towards Bert. He
is all bloody and his skin looks like it was skinned off. Bert shots
him again and takes off.
That night the kids meet another person named Grim. Grim is a skater,
but more importantly he has weed. It starts to
rain so Grim heads back to his camp site to but things away. He'll be
coming back. When the door knocks the kids
think it is him but it is the man Bert shot. The kids slam the door
on him and he gets into their car. He starts coughing up
blood. They get him out and he starts running at them. The spray him
with hairspray and light him on fire, he runs away.
The next morning Jeff and Bert go out for help. They come across a
lady slaughtering a pig. She starts yelling at how
something is making all the animals sick and this meat is no good.
They tell her about the trouble the night before and she
mentions her cousin Henry. The two see a picture of Henry and
realize, that is who they set on fire.
When Henry took off, he ended up falling into the reservoir. Once the
kids start drinking the water, Karen first, they start
to get sick. It is like a flesh eating thing. They try to isolate
Karen but it is no good. Next is Bert, Then Marcy and finally
Paul. Jeff panicked and left the cabin with just beer.
Bert tried to get help but the locals realized he was sick and hunted
him down. They tracked him to the cabin. There they
shot him but Paul got the other three locals. Paul bumped into deputy
Winston drinking with some underage kids. He had
met Winston once before who kept calling Paul the party man. By know
word was out that the kids had gone crazy and the
orders were shoot to kill.
Paul gets away and a trucker almost hits him on the road. He is taken
to a hospital but they need to transport. Winston takes
him away.
Jeff comes back to the cabin and sees that they are all dead but he
survived, he beat it. He steps out the cabin perfectly
healthy because he only drank beer not the water. Too bad the police
did not know they as they filled him full of lead. The
police burn the bodies.
The movie ends with two children selling lemonade with water from the
reservoir. Outside the small store three African
Americans approach and the old man gets up from the porch and goes in
to get the gun. The three enter the store and
he says, here you go I polished it up for you, what's happening my
nigga and they shake hands.
