Dodge Ball
Overview: The owner of Average Joe's gym is in financial trouble. His
business neighbor, Globo gym, wants to by his
property to build a garage for his clients. The owner of Average
Joe's needs to raise 50 thousand dollars to save
his gym. He has 30 days to do it. There is only one answer. The
$50,000 Dodgeball Tournament in Las Vegas.
My Rating: Hysterical. Ben Stiller is over the top funny as White
Goodman. The cast is rounded out by Christine Taylor
as Kate the Banker, Vince Vaughn as the owner of Average Joes, Pete
La Fleur, and Justin Long as Justin, one of
the players for Average Joe's who takes a beating.
More Detail: White Goodman runs Globo Gym. He acts like a
motivational speaker. He is also a "client" who at one
time weighed 300 pounds. Peter La Fleur has a small gym where rejects
go to work out. The type of people that
get laughed at when going to gyms like Globo Gym.
Kate Veatch shows up at Average Joe's gym on behalf of the bank. He
is late in his payments and they are going to
take the gym away in 30 days unless he can come up with $50,000.
Peter finds out that White has already put in a bid
to buy the property.
Pete and his gang of misfits try to think of ways to raise the money.
They come up with an idea for a car wash. As their
bad luck would have it, Globo Gym does a card wash the same day with
beautiful girls. At Joe's they offer the all male
car wash and don't raise any cash.
White has a crush on Kate. When she comes to see him he makes sure to
inflate his cod piece to try and impress her.
She tells him she does not get involved with clients.
Back at Joe's, Gordon (Stephen Root) comes across an ad for a
Dodgeball Tournament. All they have to do is win a
regional match to qualify. The meet a group of girl scouts. The
girl's beat them silly. As the girls are about to be awarded
the title, test results come back and one of them failed a urine
test. Average Joe's is in.
At the match the guys meet Patches O'Houlihan (Rip Torn). Patches is
a world class Dodgeballer now in a wheel chair.
He teaches the guys about dodgeball by having them Dodge cars and
wrenches. The gang discovers that Kate is a great
dodgeballer as she knocks the head off a White Goodman cut-out.
White and his guys see this in a security camera they planted in the
cut out. White decides he has to make his move and
make Kate fall for him. To do this White gets Kate fired from her
job, now she can date him. White tries to get physical
but Kate hits him into the wall, making him bleed his own blood, his
words not mine.
Kate joins Peter and his gang to beat Globo gym.
They advance through the tournament but then disaster strikes. A sign
falls on patches and kills him. White bribes Peter
with $100,000 for the deed to his gym. Peter leaves before the finals
but a meeting with Lance Armstrong chances
his mind and he goes back to beat Globo Gym. White says fine but I
still own your gym.
Peter tells him he is right but he took White's advice, he invested
the money. He beat on Average Joe's to win and now
he is going to buy the majority share in Globo Gym.
50 First Dates
Overview: Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore team up again for a
romantic comedy. Sandler plays Henry Roth, a
confirmed bachelor on the Island of Hawaii. One day he meets Lucy
played by Barrymore and falls in love. The
problem is Lucy was in a car accident and has no short term memory,
she forgets about Henry everyday. To prove
his love, each day Henry has to make Lucy fall in love with him all
over again.
My Rating: Awesome. Very funny. It is an Adam Sandler movie. If you like Adam Sandler, you will enjoy this movie.
More Detail: Henry Roth is a veterinarian on the Island of
Hawaii. He meets beautiful tourists, has a fling with them and
as they leave the Island comes up with a story never to see them
again. He works or the CIA, etc.
Henry has a boat that he is getting ready to take to Alaska. He wants
to study walrus behavior under water. One day he goes
to a diner for breakfast and meets Lucy.
He is attracted to her beauty and goes back the next day and starts
to talk to her. Lucy is building a house out of her
waffles and henry helps. They have breakfast together and hit it off.
They decide to meet the next day.
The next day comes but Lucy does not remember Henry. The owner
explains to Henry that Lucy was in an accident over
a year ago and each day she wakes up thinking it is October, the day
of the accident. She has breakfast and then goes to
pick a pineapple with her dad as a birthday tradition for him.
At home Lucy's dad and brother play along for her sake. They have a
bunch of news papers from that day and each
day her dad has a birthday.
Henry continues to try and meet Lucy at the diner each morning. One
morning he pretends he can't read and she helps him.
She can tell he is faking but plays along and is insulted when he
does not ask her out. henry follows her home and meets
her Dad and Brother. They ask Henry to no longer see Lucy at the diner.
Henry agrees and starts to set up plans to meet her on the way to the
diner. He even uses his pet penguin to stop her in
the middle of the road. In one of the funnier scenes, this does not
work as Lucy is picking up a CD that fell on the floor
and her car drives over the penguin, luckily he fits fine under her
car and is not hurt.
Lucy's Dad catches on to Henry and asks for him to come over. On the
days after she meets him she sings while painting
his garage or something. He figures that she remembers him a little
because the song she sings is one she gave him before
going out on his fishing trips to remember his mom.
Every now and then Lucy will find out it is not the day she thinks it
is and it is hard on her. Her dad tells her about the
accident and even shows her a scrap book. They then go to the doctors
and she hears from him what she has, short term
memory loss. The next day she will forget.
Henry decides to make a tape for Lucy showing her the things she has
missed and explaining the accident. All seems to be
going well except Lucy finds out that henry has plans to go Alaska
and has put them off to be with her. She decides
to break it off with him. After seeing the tape she started to keep a
journal and with Henry's reluctant help, removed the
parts about him so she would forget.
Henry heads off to Alaska and gets a CD from Lucy's dad. Lucy is now
living in the institute and teaching art. The CD has the
song she would sing after meeting Henry. Henry turns around and goes
back to see if Lucy knows him. She says no but
invites him into her studio. She has pictures of him drawn all over.
She dreams about him every night.
Henry and Lucy head off to Alaska. They have a young daughter and
each morning that Lucy wakes up, Henry leaves her
a Good Morning Lucy tape to catch her up on things.

at a bar and takes her home. While they make love, a sheet is
separating the two brothers, Bob writes to his Internet
Pen Pal, May. A women he has exchanged pictures and emails with for 3
years but never met. Walt's date starts
to cramp so Walt asks Bob if wouldn't mind typing from his knees
After another brilliant one man play, Walt tells Bob he wants to go
to Hollywood and see if he can make it as an actor. It
takes some convincing, but Bob aggress. Bob's pen pal is from
Hollywood but he seems nervous to actually meet her in
person.
When they arrive, Walt starts going to auditions and getting laughed
out or just flat out rejected. at a commercial for
double bubble they tell him the message they want to send is double
the flavor, not cause birth defects.
Walt arranges for Bob and May to meet. The problem is Bob never told
may about his brother. The guys do everything
they can to hide their "defect" from May. At a night club,
May bumps into an old boyfriend who tries to pick a fight
with Bob. Walt brought his own date, April. When April and May go to
the bathroom, the old boyfriend tries to pick
a fight and sees they are congealed. He starts to make fun of them
and Bob has to hold Walt back. Then the guy
just had to mention Bill Buckner, the fight was on. Bob and Walt
kicked everyones butt.
Walt's agent got him a role in a movie, an adult movie. As Walt and
Bob left they ran into Cher. Cher is trying to get out
of a TV contract for a show called Honey and the Beaze or something
like that. She has the right to choose her costar
and picks Walt, figuring the network will never go for it and break

him to change but they go on with the procedure
as planned.
The doctor comes out and tells May and April that they lost both of
them, Just then another doctor comes out and says
we found them, someone moved them upstairs.
In the end the twins find out they are not the same side by side. Bob
and May go back to the Vineyard and Bob is no
longer the great burger man he was. Walt's acting goes down hill and
honey and the Beaze gets cancelled. Walt and April
head back east and the guys are back in business. They work side by
side flipping burgers. They even have Velcro to keep
them together. Walt puts on another great show, a Bonnie and Clyde
musical with Meryl Streep.
