Name: Shimada Kambei

Basic information: Having fought only lost battles, Kambei is inconfident about his abilities to help people in need. When approached by Kirara and asked to be the samurai who would save their village from the bandits, he did not hesitate to refuse. However, later he was touched by Kirara and gang's determination and agreed to help them. Kambei is also a great leader with great sword fighting skills. Sometimes he may act too practical and straight forward towards the weaker samurais (Katsushirou and Kikuchiyo) but he slowly grows to acknowledge them.

Name: Katsushirou
Occupation: Samurai (Still needs experience)
Abilities: Standard sword fighting
Basic information: Katsushirou is the youngest of the seven samurai, but is also one of the most courageous and determined. Due to lack of real battle experience, he is rather weak in combat but from the bottom of his heart he truly wishes to help Kirara and the peasants. Impressed by Kambei when he rescued the baby at the beginning of the story, Katsushirou decided that he wants to be his student. However, getting acknowledgement from him is not going to be easy.

Name: Katayama Gorobei
Occupation: Street entertainer, ex-samurai
Abilities: Agile, catching fast-moving objects, sword fighting, making jokes & tricks
Basic information: Like his occupation says, Gorobei is the entertainer of the group. He is always cheerful, spirited and full of vigor. Although he can be quite the joker sometimes, he is always serious and knows exactly what he is doing. His reason for joining the group is not because of pity for the peasants nor the all-you-can-eat-rice reward, but merely just to fight alongside Kambei, whom he sees as a worthy samurai. Gorobei is also highly agile whose specialty is catching fast-moving objects - mainly weapons that are aimed at people.

Name: Heihachi
Occupation: Samurai
Abilities: Good at mechanics, eating, recognizing food from all places by taste

Name: Kikuchiyo
Occupation: Robot samurai
Abilities: Sword fighting
Basic information: Kikuchiyo is not human but a robot samurai. He may look big and intimidating but he is really friendly and caring. He can also be rather impulsive and clumsy as well, though he only means to help. Like Katsushirou, Kikuchiyo is one not acknowledged as a samurai by Kambei, probably not because of what he is but his lack of good sword fighting skills and frequent careless acts. Because of this reason, Kikuchiyo has a rough relation with Kambei at the beginning and does not get along with him too well. However, he and Komachi gets along as well as no one else does.

Name: Shichirouji (Nickname: Momotarou)
Occupation: (Ex) Samurai
Abilities: Lance fighting
Basic information: Shichirouji is Kambei's old time friend, who fought alongside with him during the previous major war. But when they lost the battle, he escaped in a pod and was later picked up by a lady, Yukino, who takes care of him and lets him stay at her inn. since then, Shichirouji decided that he will give up being a samurai and thus has always stayed at the inn with Yukino until Kambei and the group come to the inn to seek a temporary place to stay.

Name: Kyuuzou
Occupation: Samurai, Marou's bodyguard
Abilities: Two-handed sword fighting
Basic information: Seemingly cold, quite the expressionless and a man of few words, Kyuuzou is one with extraodinary sword fighting skills that impressed even Kambei. Having found the perfect guy with the perfect skills, Kambei asked him to join the group, only to be immediately rejected, at first. Kyuuzou wants to duel Kambei again someday, and that is pretty much the only reason why he joins the group. Although he seems like a lone-fighter, he does consider for the rest and helps them out in his own way only without voicing his opinion and/or reasons.
