We’re looking to extend our team with one or more developers. What we’re looking for is someone with extensive C# and .NET knowledge.

As we are not a company, and are not making any money out of Doppler, we unfortunately cannot pay you for your efforts. However, eternal fame will be your reward (and of course your name will end up in the product and our website). And you will be able to influence the future of Doppler!

We’re looking for someone who really wants to be a part of Doppler. This means that you need to be able to spend a considerate amount of time to Doppler and all it’s internal quirks

Besides time and knowledge, there’s one other requirement: you need to have access to a licensed copy of Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 and optionally for future developments Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2005.

We contacted our local hosting company who reported registrar problems with .net domains for several clients. The DNS entry should be updated on most of the servers worldwide by now.

The Doppler 3.0 interface has been upgraded, including a new RSS reader pane, allowing you to read the posts in the RSS feed without even leaving the Doppler interface. We now also support ‘background’ downloads, leveraging the same technology Windows uses to download upgrades (it’s called BITS). And there’s so much more.

Do you like Doppler 2.0? You’ll love Doppler 3.0.

Doppler 3.0 will be available for beta testing in about 2 weeks. Those of you who applied for beta testing the 2.1 version will be contacted when the 3.0 beta version is available.

In found some new links in our statistics for my podcast tour around the world. A relative new country in the Doppler downloads is Sweden. The Swedish public radio “Sveriges Radio” is podcasting SR Minnen (an audio archive with 250.000 programs).

On the other side of the ocean we found the Canadian CBC Radio 3. The podcast brings us “100% Canadian music from new and emerging artists”.

A really cool podcast is “Science Friday Kids’s Connection“: a weekly science talk show, broadcast live over public radio stations (USA). Topics vary from biology, earth science, dinosaurs etc.

To end our list, we want to mention a very big company: Oracle’s OTN TechCasts: online audio interviews with Oracle technology experts.

The Doppler team will be present.

From the Netherlands we would like to mention the “ongekend talent” podcast. Musicians, performers and bands currently relatively unknown to the public can expose themself and their music.

We already mentioned podcasting in Spain on this weblog. The most popular in our statistics seems to be: La Tejedora. “La Tejedora es un espacio de reuni�n, una excusa para poner en com�n los �ltimos avances en el mundo de la tecnolog�a y aquellas pistas que nos ayudan a todos a navegar con m�s destreza por la red.”

Amy Gahran started with a “Women in podcasting list“. Today, almost 80 women are registered. You can find her list on Blogdigger.

Last, but not least, we want to mention all the podcasts from The Podcast Network. In our statistics the tech conference show generated the most hits, followed by the tablet pc show and the mediacenter show.

Doppler is free software, but we do appreciate every donation. The amount of money out of the donations and Google Adsense, isn’t even enough to pay for the hosting and the bandwidth.

Not everyone likes to give money, so that’s why we added our wishlist. We’ve added an Amazon UK wish list.

“Now that Pew Internet’s data on how many people listen to podcasts has been roundly trashed as untrustworthy, would you trust any numbers from anyone else on projected growth in podcasting?

Well, Forrester Research is widely regarded as a trusted source for IT industry analysis. In a press release yesterday, Forrester included this forecast on the growth in podcasting:

[…] Podcasting, which is the newest entrant into the digital audio mix, will see significant growth by 2010 � reaching 12.3 million households � as MP3 adoption climbs and broadband reaches 62 percent of households.

Figures for the US, of course.

That’s right. All those figures only talk about the US. On this website we already mentioned the increasing interest of Japan, Brazil and Spain.

It’s almost impossible to figure out how big podcasting really is. From the download side, we can add this to the discussion: it keeps on growing, day by day. And considerably.

A few months ago, we mentioned the start of podcasting in Japan. Today, it seems like a new country is discovering podcasting: welcome Brazil. Looking forward to the first swinging salsa podcasts.

I want to share with you the most frequently asked questions:

• I have a problem with downloading “a specific RSS feed”
  Lots of people struggle with a invalid RSS feeds. The first thing to do is check the feed against feedvalidator.org. As Doppler only parses 100% valid RSS feeds, Doppler is most likely not able to read and download the feed if feedvalidator.org shows that the feed is invalid. You should contact the podcaster and inform him/her about your problem.
• I have a bug. Is it already reported?
  On the Doppler forum we have a category “Bugs”. Have a look in the list of topics and search for your problem. It could be a known problem and even better, it might have been solved in a later release.
• I would like to beta test the latest version of Doppler?
  First register for an account in our forum, then contact us by email.
