FRONT STRUT BAR

words by Sam DJ

Cost: $30 - $40
Duration: 1 - 2 hours
Material: strut bar (for 92-00 Civic or 92-00 Integra), hacksaw, and wrenches
Precedure:

1.  Buy a strut bar for either a 92-2000 Civic or Integra.  If you purchase one made by APC it'll cost you 30 bucks.  The part number for this APC piece is 65-2001.

Note: The bar is NOT going to be mounted exactly on the strut tower.  Despite this, the strut bar is effectively put to use on those hard turns that would normally cause your engine bay to flex.

2.  Use a hack saw to lop off the curve that has the hole that is placed farthest from the bar.  Refer to the pictures below in case my use of the English language isn't good enough...

3.  Install it by removing the two 17mm nuts that are located a bit toward the engine from either side of the strut towers.  Then tighten up the strut bar itself.

Comments:

Performance-wise this mod does little.  There is a small difference in handling, but its nothing special.  It does, however, do wonders for your engine bay, especially if you've got the aftermarket intake to match.  Still, for thirty bucks this is something no true modder would pass up.
