happy cinco de mayo, everyone :) i wouldn't have known that if we hadn't eaten at a mexican restaurant, so don't feel bad if you didn't have a clue, 'kay? anyway, wow. well, alright, last weekend i will be in lynchburg until i come back in the fall... well, summer. and it was great. i cannot even tell you how awesome it was. here's the setup (have you ever watched the sting? i highly recommend it): my roommate, jackie, has come home with me numerous times, and so she knows my friends pretty well. so, she and trisha decided that they would go behind my back and have trisha, hannah, jed, and ted come down to visit. well, aside from a few kinks in the plan, courtesy of yours truly and that stubborness flaring up again... it worked out really nicely. i prob wasn't as suprised as i should have been, but that's okay - my friends were HERE! and wow, did we have fun! okay, let me just tell you that my friends rock. ROCK. i know that trisha is a Godsend (needed a Christian sis in high school, and God provided), and i'm a-thinkin' the rest are, too. i've always wanted a "brother," and i've got one... and jackie, God has provided you as my roommate, which was one thing i was terrified about when i came. anyway, to the rest of you, i know God's gotcha in my life for a cool reason, but nothing specific comes to mind.... yet :) anyway, so... trucks. big trucks. ones that can go up mountains? (or hills, as steven calls them) yeah, they're great. WE LOVE VIKKI! (did i spell that right? hope so) anyway, wow, okay, so picture this... seven people (jackie, tim, trisha, hannah, jed, me, and our fabulous driver, ted) crammed into a ford truck, going up a mountain and praying like crazy the whole way. it rocks. it's kind of like a roller coaster, except less safe. shall we all praise Jesus now? yes! so, anyway, we get to the top (by the grace of God) at about two am, according to tim, and wow. "i tell you what, wow!" God was not messing around when He made this place. on one side you could see the city of lynchburg in all its glorious light pollution... on the other side of the mountain (the bear went over the mountain...) there were... more mountains. and so few lights. but the moon was bright, and it was a glorious view. and it just got better. :) hannah, tim, and trisha all tried to sleep in the truck while jackie stood and thought and talked and played a little guitar. jed and ted talked for a while, apparently, and i did some God-talkin', as well as admiring the view, and talkin' to people. after a while, jed and ted decided to scout trails other than the one we had come up. i decided to join 'em, since i was bored and half falling asleep. well, it was fun. i have to admit it. even when we found a sketchy (and rude?) truck in a random sketchy spot. it was a nice walk... except for the flashback of dupont circle. okay, the road we drove up was a pain to hike... just so ya know. sooo... then - have i told you how i feel about sunrises? they rock. when i'm actually awake for them, they are such a time to feel God and be assured that Someone had a hand in designing the universe. watching it from a mountaintop is cool. 'specially with Christian friends that i love. (don't worry tim... i actually do mean l-o-v-e) (yes, i caught up on your webpage) so... yeah, i thought that was adventure. whoops - forgot about the trip down! that was craziness. praise the Lord for well-built trucks and excellent drivers. amen? amen. we took a route we didn't know... past the sketchy truck that was gone in the morning... and got a little... lost is not quite the word... try: in the middle of nowhere without a clue as to where civilization was located. but God once again showed His coolness and after many, many crazy trails, mud, and even backing up... we found some power lines and a school bus. :) and then we found a burger king just in time for me and trisha... it's so not fair! (sorry, tangent that is not entirely pertinent to the story) then ted knew where we were! it was cool. oh, and this is great... since we had left the little white duck (trisha's car) at the bottom of the mountain, we went to pick it up while trying to act like there were not seven people in a five-seater... and just as we pulled out in two separate cars with a *cough* legal? number in each, a policeman drove by. glory hallElu yah! hehehe, okay, well, YAYFORYOUPEOPLE! THANK YOU SO MUCH! jax, i cannot believe the year is over. i will miss ya :*( hopefully we'll be down for a visit sometime. if not, there's always next year (when we'll try once more to not strangle each other - hehe). summer, home, friends i haven't seen in forever, bird, family, friends that were just here... HERE I COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
