Entry for May 03, 2007

I enjoy the internet radio service while I am on the web. "I WORSHIP.COM" is a great station and one of inspiration. Some of the great stories I have done in Blogs has come from them. Our FREEDOMS are being taken away 1 by 1 and we need to stand up for the right things. This is one of those things. Please read and react as God leads. We send e-mails around saying If you 're ashamed of Jesus He will be ashamed of you, as a dare to pass that e-mail on. This is more than just an e-mail will you take the step? Thank you if you do.

INTERNET RADIO INDUSTRY THREATENED BY DRASTIC FEE INCREASES - UPDATE!
A few weeks ago, we shared how the entire Internet radio industry could cease to exist should the proposed RIAA royalty fee increases actually go into effect on May 15.
Here is a short recap of the situation: in order for AllWorship.com (or any radio station) to
broadcast music over the Internet, we have to pay special fees to an arm of the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). These fees are very costly and a significant part of our annual budget. On March 2, the Copyright Royalty Board drastically changed the way that Internet radio stations must pay these royalties to record labels. If allowed to stand, the fees we have to pay will be five times higher than the current rates. This ruling not only affects 2007 but is also retroactive to 2006. These fees could be ten times what they are today in a few years. These fees could eliminate over 90% of all Internet radio stations.
We asked you to write your local representative to try to save Internet radio.
Your voice has made a difference! Last week, a bill was introduced in the United States Congress called the Internet Radio Equality Act. It would overturn the Royalty Board's decision and establish a more affordable and fair fee based on a station's revenue.
If you are a citizen of the United States, please go to SaveNetRadio.org.
They provide the contact information of your Congressional representative (by simply typing in your zip code). Please call and tell them that you want to save Internet radio and ask them to co-sponsor H.R. 2060, the Internet Radio Equality Act.
Please do this as soon as possible. You truly can help save the Internet radio industry.
If you would like to read more about these fees, Newsweek did a very thorough article in this week's issue.
Thank you!
