Entry for January 11, 2007
I decided I needed to learn to do navajo plying after looking at Susan's sample handpainted yarns (at http://spinningbunny.com ).
I decided to try the spindle first, because it is
"slower", and because I was going out to church for
the kids' activities and I could carry my spindle in
my bag--so I brought my Spin Off article and my
spindle and a bit of handspun and tried it. I must
say, the pictures didn't help me all that much, but
the description and then the comparison to crocheting
a chain (I don't really crochet, but I know how to
make a chain) did, and when I got started and figured
out where to pinch the "old loop" and the new strand
together it went pretty well.
Then I went home and did it on the Babe--mostly went
well, but every now and then I would just BLANK and
not remember what my hands were supposed to be doing.
LOL
Whoo hoo! Another skill for me!
