IN THE HEART OF A PARENT
All the countries of the world today are beginning to realize that they have duty to the young generations which we cannot simply by-pass.Here in our dear Philippines it is high time now that we should focus our attention to the youth-that we should devote our time and money to the proper care and guidance of our children.
The first point id like to expound to you is the prime obligation of parents toward their children.From the happy moments of their birth up to the time that they blossom into full manhood or womanhood, children have a God-given right to demand from their parents these two most important things; support, and later on education. with regard to these two things, the first good act of married man to remember that his child did not come forth into this world by its own will and volition. it was he the father who craved for it by choosing the married state which endowed him liberty to beget children. Also to those choosing unmarried state but choose to beget children out of wedlock.Such liberty in return clothed him with corresponding sacred obligation foremost among which are support and education.He must therefore work hard to give these things to his child, die for them if necessary.
The great fundamental defect among our parents today should be corrected immediately in order to save the entire nation from the falling into the abyss of destruction.Our parents today must do well to remember that education begins at home, that most of the chiildren's time of the entire day is spent outside of school, We should not rely wholly on the teachers in school and to do nothing more with the children at home.
The destiny of our children is mostly in our hands. if we neglect our sacred duties as parents; if we spend all our time and money in our vices and our caprices; if we do not take an active and direct participation in the education and guidance of our children especially during the time when they are away from school then we shall have sons and daughters who will only be a dishonor to their family. But if we keep ourselves awake, if we start right now to minimize and always ready to discharge our duties as good parents and good citizens then we shall have children who are obedient, industrious, honest and upright and the future pillars of our country.
