More thoughts on Philippians 1

Paul emphasizes the Gospel. He talks of the Philippians' "partnership in the Gospel" (v. 5),  their partaking with him in "the defense and confirmation of the Gospel" (vv. 7, 16), how his imprisonment "has really served to advance the Gospel" (v. 12), how their manner of life should be "worthy of the Gospel" (v. 27) and how he desires to hear that they are "with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the Gospel" (v. 27). As I read this, I am struck with the thought that I need to do more for the sake of the Gospel in my daily life. I pray for opportunities, but I'm not sure that I'm recognizing and seizing the ones that are there.

I am encouraged by Paul's words in verse 6: "And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ."

God isn't finished working with me yet. I can continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 3:18 (ESV)

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
