We started the day with a picnic lunch at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. At nearly 1,000 feet high it's quite impressive, but so too are the crowds milling about at the bottom, waiting for a ticket.
Next we hopped over to Notre Dame cathedral--a beautiful medieval church with amazing stained glass windows. Hard to believe the French were using it to house cattle before Victor Hugo's novel made it famous.
We finished out the day with some light shopping (hunt perfume/kill perfume), and after a refreshing nap, found an excellent little Indian restaurant for dinner. Following the meal we slowly made our way through Paris at night, past packed cafes and bars. Our last stop was just across the Rive Siene, where we admired the Eiffel Tower at night. It's quite lovely lit from within, and perched against the blue Paris sky.
Remind me to write about my impresions of the French - we didnt experience any of the stereotypical French behavior. Everyone was very welcoming, and we enjoyed our stay - we would definitely come back.
