When I was in kindergarten all I talked about were animals, mainly cats.
So much that my teacher told my parent that they should get me one. So
the day after my last day of kindergarten, (Memorial Day) we went and
picked out a little kitten. She was so tiny and so cute. On the way
home we were all trying to pick out a name for her, nothing seemed quite
right. Then again we (my sisters and I) were only 2, 4, and 5 years old.
We would have named her the first thing that popped into our heads if
mom and dad weren’t there to help us out. Finally, after much
discussion and arguing, Mom said “What about Wiskers? We all just kin
of looked at eachother for a moment but then finally all agreed. Wiskers it was.

Well, apparently Wiskers wasn’t very use to riding in cars, for only
moments after we named her, the decided to let out the first hairball of
relationship. And it wasn’t pretty. Well, like I said, being 2,4, and 5
years old, we were horrified! We didn’t know what to do! I remember that
Tracey hopped into the front seat with Mom and Dad, and Holly and me
just sat in the back seat with this disgusting fur ball and its fur ball
and cried all the way home. And that’s not the best part.

Once we were home we were still afraid of our new pet. For as tiny and
fuzzy and cute as it was, we didn’t want it to throw up on us. So the
first thing we all did was jump up onto the couch where she couldn’t get
to us. “Take it back Daddie! Take it back!” was all we could say. Sad,
indeed, but true. The poor kitten just walked around the house, not
knowing where she was or what to do next. She was probably more scared
than we were. Either way, Mom and Dad put Wiskers in a high box that she
couldn’t climb out of and we eventually tried to look at her again and
Dad told us that if we still didn’t want her the next day, that he would
take her back when he got home from work.

Well, I don’t know why or how, but the next morning I had to go see this
little fur ball. Deep down I knew I didn’t want to have to take her back
so I ha to see if I could handle her.
Within the first few minutes of me playing with her, I knew we ha a
connection, and when Dad came home from work that day, there was no way
I was going to let him take her back.
