GIGS / NEXT EVENT
FEATURE BANDSSEVEN SUNDAYSOriginally simply known as Electrochemicals, formed in the year 1999 from members of a group of good friends, inclusive of a trio of cousins,Rahman, Ayi & Esham.
Led by magnetic-sound-creator, Rahman on the first guitars, effect box, etc., the band's original lineup included vocalist Isman, bassist Elfie, Esham on second guitars & melody-maker and Ayi on drums & percussions, etc. Sharing a collective fondness for The Beatles, Oasis, Stone Roses, etc., - as well as a legendary appetite for psychedelics, the band started some practice sessions at the nearby neighbourhood studio. .
With a debut gig at the World Trade Amphitheater in 2000, the band moved on to a more definite direction of sounds - basic traditional rock and roll, very much influenced by likes of The Beatles, The Kinks, Stone Roses, Oasis, etc. In 2001, with ingrained sounds & a new lineup - Azrin on voicebox, Alfie on second guitars & Esham went on with the bass, the band became Seven Sundays in 2001. In 2002, the band contributed two songs, With My Passion & Me and My Melody to a major local indie compilation, The Show Must Go On which includes songs by other great local bands such as Disco Biscuits,Tiramisu,Serenaide,Big Red Moment & more. The band has since been rocking and although, the future of local bands is uncertain, it has never once thought about quitting! thus, the song by Seven Sundays, If You Believe..
The band got together somehow from a circle of friends. Their plan is to record as many songs as they could as the idea is still fresh as new. Soon, they built up an arrangement of songs and were offered to perform live. There had been a lot of changes in Seven Sundays' line-up as to develop their music futher. Soon, Alfie joined the band as guitarist with brilliant ideas to complete the sound puzzle. The result of this; Endervour can be heard on their
album soon around end September 2005, self titled - Seven Sundays. The band's debut appearance was in 1999 at the World Trade Centre Amphitheatre playing alongside with Reuters, Violets & Apple. Seven Sundays has travelled and appeared at many gigs held at great venues - Hideout (Indie Nights), Paul's Place (KL), Jammerz Pit, Forward Studio for Rockstar Collectives productions, YMS - The Dream Luv and Fantasies 1 & 2, Roomful Of Blues - For Friends and Lovers (part 1 & 2), LaSalle - Indecent Exposure 1 & 2, Passionova (Arts open house), Substation - Versus (part 1 & 2), Acoustics sessions @ Orchard Library (Takashimaya), Library @ Esplanade. The Sundays has also performed live for the National Park Board held at Sun Plaza Park (Tampines),Yishun Park, Esplanade Park, The Street Festival Invitations (2002, 2003 & 2005) held at HMV, Faber House, Youth Park and Cineleisure.
Year 2000 Seven Sundays released independently their debut EP 'Living High' consisting of 5 tracks. In 2002 the band contributed 2 songs, With My Passion and Me & My Melody, in a major Indie Compilation called 'The Show Must Go On'. Seven Sundays is still rocking from S'pore to Kuala Lumpur
THE TIMES
Rock n Roll band from Malaysia. The Band was formed on 31st August 2004 by two Brothers Naza and Mono, who are really into British culture and musical influences. Not long after that, Alem (ex- Nerd), Hamzah (DJ Acid Mods), and Irfan (Ex- A.C.A.B) joined the party after realizing that they have common taste and interest. The Beatles, The Who, Rolling Stones, Smith, Oasis and Stone Roses are among our favorites and inspiration. These are the bands that influenced us in terms of lyrics and songwriting as well as fashion and attitude... The band focus on ideas, creativity, originality and attitude... On 30 November 2004 the band released their 1st album entittled "Soda pop Rok n Rol". The album was nominated Top 5 best new artist to Anugerah Industri Muzik Malaysia 2005.an elegantly noisy pop celebration. By now their live shows were being talked of as something very special and they'd built an extensive, committed fan base...
THE MARILYNS...
NowFormed in 1996, The Marilyns play jangly, mellow indie-pop, with vocals sung in both Malay and English.
Having grown older as a band and moving away from their previous indie-funk fused sound
, the band sounds wiser and admits that they are now more comfortable and confident with their
songwriting and arrangement.
Currently promoting their Malay originals, they are also equally
adept at playing their English-sung numbers. Describing themselves humbly as 'a band which
itself was never big nor small in terms of success, but just there. . .as a loyal participant
in the Singaporean indie scene', The Marilyns have had performances on television
(Najip Ali's TV Kini), radio (live on Zach's Trax - Heart 91.3FM) and clubs such as Moods and
Roomful of Blues. Various self released and independent releases, The Show Must Go On...(album
launch), The Big Show, Baybeats 2003, Irama Sehaluan, EID, Popstatik alongside Mocca and Red
