Marigolds In this dream my brother's friend was trying to kill me. It was in the middle of the night and I was half asleep in bed. He came into my room and unknowingly woke me up. He placed some objects round the room which would aid him in my murder. At the end of my bed he placed a crust from a slice of toast. On the floor he put a brick and on the shelf at the end of my bed he put some strips of paper. Also on the floor was some sort of radio device. Then he went to take a shower. I quickly got out of bed and grabbed the brick, waiting for him to come back into my room. When he did, I took the brick and bashed up the radio device which was somehow connected to his head and made him pass out. Now it was day and mum was in the kitchen reading the newspaper and listening to the radio. I ran down and told her what had heppened but she didn't believe me because my brother's friend is "such a nice guy". I decided that she needed to see some evidence, so I ran upstairs and grabbed the strips of paper, careful not to get fingerprints on them. While doing this I noticed that there were 6 sony ericcson mobile phones in my bedroom, laid out on my desk in pairs of two. One was mine, one was my brother's, and another belonged to my brother's friend. I think there was some incriminating information on the phones so I took them too. When I showed the evidence to mum she still didn't believe me. Then I went off to do something which I can't remember and when I came back, 3 phones were missing. I asked mum what had happened to them and she said she had given them back. Then my brother and his friend came down the stairs laughing amongst themselves because the had been told by mum of my accusation and they thought it was ridiculous. Then suddenly I was in America. I was staying with a woman. We spent most of the time in the garden with a tabby cat. She spent her time pruning and planting marigolds. We couldnt spend all the time in the garden though because a few times a day a large truck came down the road at the front of the house and sprayed it with something like slurrey so we had to retreat indoors. |

| Huggable Moth I was walking at the top of my road when I noticed a very large moth sitting on the trunk of one of the palm trees there. A hummingbird hawkmoth to be precise. This moth was larger than a fat domestic cat and had a very rounded fat body. As I stopped to examine it, it flew up into the air. The noise from its wings was near deafening. It flew over to me and landed on my shoulder and sat there happily for a while. It was heavy on my shoulder, but not in a painful way. Just satisfyingly heavy. As it landed its wings tickled my face and I could feel the warmth of its fat body against my cheek as it sat. Its body was warm and soft and had a feathery texture. As it sat I wanted nothing more than to hug this moth as it seemed so friendly and lovable. Si I picked it up from my shoulder and hugged it, but not tight enough to do it any harm. I could tell that the giant moth enjoyed being hugged as much as I enjoyed hugging it. |

| Cake Beetles My family and I were living in a semi-derilict house in a piece of disused land somewhere near a beach. We lived on the top floor as the ground floor wasn't fit for living in. The top floor actually had quite a nice, if dated, kitchen and dining room. We rarely left the house as that would involve passing through the ground floor. For some reason we considered it to be dangerous. The stairs from above lead down to one large open room with boarded up windows but with sunlight peeking through the gaps. There was no floor, just coarse sand. One day I decided to venture down the stairs. I'm surprised nobody tried to stop me but as far as I can remember, they didn't even notice. I was halfway down the stairs when I heard some sort of rustling noise, then movement in the gloom. I strained to see what was there. I saw a black shape which I thought was a rat. For some reason it seemed to be digging through the sand instead of going over it. Then suddenly it sped up and came right up to the steps and used its momentum to fire itself partially up the stairs. At this point I saw that it wasnt a rat but a rat-sized beetle. I shrieked and ran back up to the kitchen but the beetle persued. Everyone looked up from what they were doing as I ran in. When they saw the beetle they leant back against the dining table and warily watched it skuttle past. It stopped on the lino and did nothing for a few seconds. Then its back split and fell apart into lots of little pieces which somehow turned into fully grown beetles. This was its way of reproducing. We were less concerned about the beetles intentions than we were a few minutes ago, although I don't know how about 20 more of the beetles could put us at ease. My brother decided to pick one of the beetles up and put it on the dining table. We all stared. It didnt move much. My brother sniffed it then suddenly dug his hand into its back and took out a lump. The beetle, which now appeared to be the size of a small dog, didnt seem to mind at all. He nibbled at the lump then shoved it into his mouth with a big grin on his face while the rest of us grimaced. "It tastes like cake" he said. And indeed, the flesh of the beetle did appear cake-like. But we were concerned that it may be toxic for my brother to eat. "Meh", he said "if it tastes like cake it cant be too bad" and shoved another handfull of beetle flesh into his mouth. |
