Somerset Dam Australian Motorcycle Rally

WHERE
Somerset Dam, near Esk or Fernvale.
The usual venue is the Somerset camping ground opposite the shop/servo/bottleshop. This may change for 2001 as the campground may have undergone a change of ownership, and may be closed this year.

COMMENTS
2001 will be the 3rd time this has been run. 2000 had karaoke and belly dancers but not both at the same time.

Activities - a gymkhana on the Saturday afternoon, bellydancers on Sat night. Generally a family-happy rally, many of our members have husbands, kids etc and all are welcome.
We have catered lunch, dinner on Saturday (by a local Scout troop) and breakfast on Sunday. Soft drinks, tea, coffee and some merchandise available from the WIMA tent. Alcohol available across the road at the shop. Fresh water is available on site, there are numerous barbecues and firepits if you prefer to cook your own, firewood is available (plenty of it!). Swimming in the dam. Hot showers and toilets at the amenities block.
2000 they had a karaoke, eventually a band. Prizes are given for longest distance travelled, oldest bike and rider, youngest rally attendee etc.
Rules - well, family-oriented rally. Campsites should be left tidy.
