Electronic Component Reliablity

The reliability of electronic components (hall effect sensors, black boxes, diode boards etc.) reduces with temperature.
If the temperature doubles the failure rate MORE than doubles for the electronic components.

What is Heat Soak?

Heat Soak occurs when you stop your bike after a long hard (for the bike) ride. At this point the motor is hot, and has a lot of stored heat energy that it was getting rid of into the passing air. Now that the air has stopped moving, the cooling has been significantly reduced. Your bike is now going to get hotter than it was!

How to avoid Heat Soak.

You can reduce this stored heat energy by reducing the strain on the motor (reduce speed and/or throttle position) for say the last 10 minutes of your ride. K model owners can fit an extra fan switch and turn that on 5 minutes before they stop. This reduces the stored heat energy and therefore the temperature rise after you stop. In turn this should increase the reliability of your bikes electronic components.
I have no idea if this will improve the reliability of the seals, etc. Any one care to comment?
