(A4e2b3a1d2c) British Columbia (Canada) Teachers Federation

This web page is about the BC Teachers' Federation (BCTF), the union to which all British Columbia public school teachers must belong. Among other things it has policies and positions on various "social" issues, among which are contraception, abortion, homosexuality and religion. ******* Most of the leaders of the BC College of Teachers (BCCT)have been in leadership positions in the BCTF and have therefore helped to generate the position and policies of the BCTF and are on the whole in agreement with them. ******* One of these policies is pro homosexual "lifestyle", as opposed to pro homosexuals. I say this because, in my opinion, promoting homosexual sexual practices is not in the best interests of homosexuals or potential homosexuals. The BCTF and the BCCT have both become pro homosexual behaviour activists. The BCTF decides how to do this and acts on those decisions and the BCCT ensures that there is no interference with the relevant actions of the BCTF. ******* BCTF literature indicates that the BCTF refuses to distinguish between homosexuals and homosexual behaviour. In other words, the BCTF says that if you disapprove of homosexual sex then you are "homophobic" and hate homosexuals. ******* Clearly this is an attempt to make homosexual sex respectable and to discredit one of the basic positions of Christianity, namely to hate the sin and love the sinner. ******* The homosexual activists in the BCTF persuaded that union to adopt a policy of zero tolerance for any reluctance to agree or participate in the promotion of the pro homosexual lifestyle. This policy is clearly totalitarian and fascist. One of its victims is Chris Kempling. The names of others have not yet come to public attention. *********************************************************************************************************************** As of this date, 07-02-16, this folder contains 2 items. ******* item 1 AFTER THE BCTF DECISION ON GAY-STRAIGHT ALLIANCES WHERE DO PARENTS STAND? ******* item 2 BC TEACHERS' FEDERATION TARGETS RELIGIOUS SCHOOLS FOR DE-FUNDING *********************************************************************************************************************** ******* item 1 AFTER THE BCTF DECISION ON GAY-STRAIGHT ALLIANCES WHERE DO PARENTS STAND? ******* By Ted Hewlett (president of B. C. Parents and Teachers for Life) ******* In spite of deep concern by many parents and, and without any parental input, the Annual General Meeting of the BCTF on March 21 of this year passed a recommendation by the executive to "actively support the establishment of Gay/Straight Alliance support groups (GSAs) in middle and high schools throughout B.C. " Christian parents and teachers and others of faith who opposed the measure are deeply concerned that such Gay-Straight Alliances will actively propagandize students to regard homosexual behaviour as an acceptable alternative, and that they will be used for political purposes in the cause of so-called "gay rights, " as they have been in the United States. ******* Where does the passing of the recommendation on Gay-Straight Alliances leave parents and students now? Basically, in the opinion of this writer, it leaves them in an extremely vulnerable position. ******* Gay-Straight Alliances, we need to understand, are just part of a much wider agenda. As long ago as 1997, a spokesperson for the Gay and Lesbian Educators of B.C., in a presentation to the Coquitlam School Board, made the scope of the pro-homosexuality agenda clear. "Nowhere in the curriculum are the many and significant contributions of lesbian and gay people, living and dead, acknowledged [he said]. Our school libraries are devoid of resources that positively affirm the achievements of gay and lesbian people in the arts, in literature, science, politics, and every other sphere of endeavor." What the pro-homosexuality activists desire is a revamping of education that could affect every area of the curriculum. ******* Make no mistake about it, this proposed revamping of education will leave no room for influence by parents of traditional morality. For evidence of this we may look at the recently-issued guide for classroom teachers issued by the Surrey Teachers' Association ("Moving Beyond Silence:" Addressing Homophobia in Elementary Schools). Under the sub-heading "Religious and Moral Objections" (Page 5) we read that "People with moral objections . . . are fully entitled to them-at home" Again: "Religious points of view have no place in the classroom and biases must be checked at the door." Points of view that oppose religious beliefs, however, can apparently be brought into the classroom by the teacher. In the "Non-Fiction-Secondary and Adult" section of "Moving Beyond Silence," one of the resources listed is The Gay Agenda-Talking Back to the Fundamentalists. The write-up accompanying this title characterizes the book in these words: "Spiritual and humanistic, this book provides powerful insights into the historical and current methods of persecution of queer people by the church. It provides a sometimes scathing but accurate critique of fundamentalist dogmas . . . . A must read for anyone interested in understanding and learning how to better challenge the myths and negative stereotypes perpetuated by the extreme right." ******* While its proponents are pushing the pro-homosexuality agenda in the teaching of a wide variety of subjects, the students may be expected to have leisure-time opportunities to be exposed to the same sort of indoctrination. In an article in the April edition of the BCTF "newsmagazine" Teacher, the writer of an article on "Gay/Straight Alliances" says, "The decision to support Gay/Straight Alliance groups means that BCTF members will be encouraged to act as sponsors for GSAs . . . " and "The Federation's Social Justice Advisory Committee, with the assistance of homophobia and heterosexism (H/H) associates, will now develop a program to assist locals and members in implementing the AGM motion." ******* We know that the pro-homosexuality agenda is not the only danger facing youth. It is simply the most newly-evident, and the one that parents can most easily take action to oppose. A conference planned for this October by B.C. Parents and Teachers for Life will have as its theme "Standing Up for Youth," and will attempt to give some concrete answers as to what parents and others can do to stand up for youth on a number of issues. Approximately 700 teachers attending their annual meeting voted to pass the resolution. ******* All were saying is that the provincial government has to enact what it says it will do through the Independent Schools Act, said resolution sponsor, Vancouver teacher Jane MacEwan, according to a Focus on the Family news report. And it clearly states that schools teaching religious superiority or racial superiority cannot receive [public] funding. ******* The Independent Schools Act prohibits funding for schools that promote racial supremacy, religious intolerance, or violence as a means to effect social change. The teachers resolution was originally intended to target a polygamous sect in the Bountiful, BC, region, but the resolution adopted took on a much broader scope that could be applied to all independent religious schools. ******* Contact BC Education Minister Shirley Bond: http://www.legis.gov.bc.ca/mla/38thParl/bond.htm ******* Contact BC Premier Gordon Campbell: http://www.legis.gov.bc.ca/mla/38thParl/campbell.htm ***********************************************************************************************************************
