(A4a1d) political persuasion, indoctrination and intimidation

Political Correctness is a growing stifler of people's search for truth. One critic stated quite simply that "political correctness" is a lie. "political correctness" aims not just at controlling people's behaviour but also, and perhaps primarily at controlling our thoughts. It is dehumanizing because it attacks our God given free will. It is an insidious disease whose tentacles reach into and corrupt many organizations and institutions. Item 3 illustrates this fact. ******* As of this date, 04-11-30, this file consists of 4 items. ******* item 1 SIXTH GRADERS TURN CLASSMATES INTO POLICE FOR INCORRECT SPEECH ******* item 2 TEACHERS' UNIONS HAVE BECOME SCHOOL BULLIES ******* item 3 part A) CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY'S STATEMENT ON THE LINK BETWEEN ABORTION AND BREAST CANCER ******* item 3 part B) BRENT ROONEY'S ANALYSIS OF THE CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY'S STATEMENT ******* item 3 part C) PRO ABORTIONIST'S STATEMENT ON THE ABORTION-BREAST CANCER CONNECTION ******* item 3 part D) finding of THE JOURNAL OF THE NATIONAL MEDICAL ASSOCIATION ******* item 4 THE CULTURE WAR COMES TO HOLLAND ************************************************************************************************************************* item 1 ******* Date: Sat, 13 Jul 2002 10:40:00 -0500 ******* Subject: [missionamerica] SIXTH GRADERS TURN CLASSMATES INTO POLICE FOR INCORRECT SPEECH ******* To: "Mission America List" ******* From: "Linda Harvey" ******* The program below has sixth, seventh and eighth grade students report on racist and "homophobic" slurs by their classmates--directly to police. ******* It's funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Safe and Drug Free Schools Program as part of its prevention of "hate crimes." ------------------------------------ Family Issues in Policy and Culture ******* A Web site of Focus on the Family ******* July 12, 2002 ******* WEST VIRGINIA LETS STUDENTS MONITOR 'CIVIL RIGHTS' VIOLATIONS ******* By Steve Jordahl, correspondent ******* West Virginia schools soon will be monitored by student "civil rights teams" tasked with reporting harassment before it escalates into violence. But some fear it will only inaugurate a new brand of McCarthyism. ******* West Virginia Attorney General Darrell V. McGraw is sponsoring a project in which public school students will monitor and report civil rights violations committed by fellow students. ******* In announcing its "Civil Rights Team Project," the attorney general's office said the project was creating "a mechanism through which minority students (or the friends of minority students) can alert someone of harassment before it escalates to the level of serious violence." Among the types of harassment mentioned were "racial, ethnic, sexual, religious and homophobic slurs." Each "civil rights team," as they are called, would be comprised of three students per grade and one or two faculty advisors. ******* The plan has some critics hearkening back to an infamous time when Americans were obsessed with ferreting out communists in their midst. Albert Fried, author of "McCarthyism: The Great American Red Scare," says caution is in order with this latest plan. ******* "I think the historic precedent would be what happened in the 1940s and 1950s, when ... students in schools were encouraged to inform on people suspected of being 'subversives,' " Fried said. ******* Fried added that despite the good intentions of the attorney general, the project runs the risk of celebrating and then acting on the basis of unprocessed, unverified information. ******* "That's a very, very dangerous precedent to set, and I think rather nullifies whatever incidental good might come out of that," he said. ******* In addition to the historical implications, Brad Dacus of the Pacific Justice Institute, a religious-liberties legal group, sees McGraw's plan as threat to religious freedom. Unfortunately, Dacus said, someone is going to have to be wrongly accused before the project legally can be challenged. ******* "This policy can be challenged, but it's going to probably need to be challenged after it's actually been implemented in a manner that violates the rights of some families or students," he said. ******* Dacus has even offered, free of charge, to represent students harmed by this project. ******* The West Virginia program is modeled after a similar program in Maine and is funded by the U.S. Department of Education. ******* FOR MORE INFORMATION ******* To read the West Virginia attorney general's announcement of the "Civil Rights Team Project," click here. ******* (NOTE: Links to Web sites not produced by Focus on the Family do not necessarily imply an endorsement by Focus on the Family of the contents of those sites.) ******* You can receive family news stories by e-mail. The man inside visibly trembled. "He's shaking, he's shaking," screamed an elated activist. "Coward!" shrieked the mob, as their target explained he had Parkinson's disease. Obscene insults and gestures continued unabated. ******* This was a mob of British Columbia teachers -- the folks we pay to teach our children, educate them on civility and democracy, and counsel them against schoolyard bullying. ******* The man in the car was Eric Rice, the mediator negotiating a dispute between the B.C. Teachers' Federation and the provincial government. At first, union president Neil Worboys refused to apologize. "Teachers are innovative people," Worboys explained, "and they sometimes overreact." ******* Later, Worboys would insist that he had lacked information about the incident. Apparently, neither he nor any union executive caught the previous day's television news, which endlessly replayed the incident; or listened to the many witnesses -- including the reporters who described the confrontation and Rice's condition to Worboys, who, by the way, was also at the protest. ******* Only after outraged calls poured in did Worboys apologize. It came with a nod and a wink. It was "teachers' anger and frustration with the political process" -- that is, the democratic process and the decisions of the popularly elected government of British Columbia -- that was responsible, he said. ******* Will union members be disciplined? "We're not into discipline," the teachers' boss explained. "Teachers forgot," he helpfully added, "[that] it's the Liberal government and the trustees who are responsible for the damage being done to public education, not [Rice]." Apparently, bully tactics are fine if democratically elected Cabinet ministers are targeted. ******* And Cabinet ministers across British Columbia have also been targeted. A screaming union mob chased Premier Gordon Campell through an airport (no apology). His wife's office and his constituency office were firebombed. Other incidents abound. Virtually no province has been spared such fundamentally anti-democratic activity by unions and "activists": If you don't like the outcome of the democratic process, violence is fine. ******* But when teachers are involved, alarm bells should ring loud. ******* Union leadership seems intent on encouraging teachers to take their anti-democratic "activist" message into the classroom. Union Web sites contain useful information for teachers, but they are also stuffed with hard-left ideology, promoted on pages marked as resources for teachers or for parents. ******* Teachers are encouraged to use activist pamphlets, extolling the politics of resentment. The sites ask teachers to follow links to hard left groups, often anti-globalist organizations involved in violent protest, for classroom information -- no references to other points of view or links to legitimate sources of information and research. Teachers are again exposed to hard-left propaganda at union meetings and conferences. ******* School boards, too, have been radicalized. Unions and "activists" devote large resources to board elections, with alarming success due to low voter turnout. ******* Thus continues the dangerous politicization of our education system. Activist groups, spearheaded by teachers' unions, spare no effort to capture the education agenda. They battle every effort to bring diversity and outside views into the classroom. ******* The teachers' union monopoly on public education must be broken. Right-to-work laws, allowing educators to refuse to pay dues, should be enacted for teachers' unions. They are no longer unions in the traditional sense of the word. They are political organizations with specific agendas they want pushed into the classroom. ******* A fundamental democratic value requires that no person be forced to be a member of a political organization when he or she objects to its views. Yet public school teachers across Canada, regardless of their own views, are forced to provide financial support for unions that are often involved in radical politics. ******* This must be stopped. If groups such as the Canadian Civil Liberties Association and Democracy Watch are interested in democracy and freedom, this is a cause they should support. ******* Right-to-work rules for teachers' unions would give power to political minorities in the union, who are now bullied into marginalization. Unions would have to respect other views if teachers were allowed the right to stop paying for activities they find repugnant. ******* Canada's education system is under attack from the very unions that represent educators. They are willing to employ violent, anti-democratic tactics and push their propaganda into Canadian schools. Canadian children deserve better. ******* Copyright 2002 National Post **************************************************************************************************************** item 3 part A)QUOTE FROM CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY HEALTH POLICY STATEMENT ON ABORTION AND BREAST CANCER (from http://66.59.133.182/files/abortion_%20hps_e.pdf) ******* "Current scientific evidence does not support a relationship between abortion and any type of breast cancer in women with or without a family history of cancer. Many studies have been published regarding the possible relationship between abortion and breast cancer. Although some studies have shown slightly increased risk of breast cancer in relation to abortion, many of these studies have substantial weaknesses. In fact the strongest studies show no relationship whatsoever between abortion and breast cancer." ******* 3 part B) OPEN LETTER FROM BRENT ROONEY TO BARBARA WHYLIE OF THE CANDIAN CANCER SOCIETY ******* Date: Sat, 2 Nov 2002 13:42:29 -0800 (PST) ******* From: brent rooney ******* To: Dr Barbara Whylie , Kerstin Ring ******* Cc: David Frum , Ottawa Citizen , ******* Subject: CANCER SOCIETY CONCEDES TWO BREAST CANCER RISKS OF ABORTION ******* 2 November 2002 ******* Dr. Barbara Whylie Director, Cancer Control Policy Canadian Cancer Society/National Cancer Institute of Canada ******* Open letter to Dr. Barbara Whylie (Canadian Cancer Society), ******* Hello and thank you for your 30 Oct 02 email regarding the ABC (Abortion Breast Cancer) risk. Your email has implicated two risks of abortion that raise BC (Breast Cancer) odds: ******* 1. being childless ('nulliparous') at menopause ******* 2. having a First Full-Term Pregnancy (FFTP) after age 30 ******** In your 30 Oct 02 email you wrote: "The consensus of experts about breast health say that women are at higher risk of breast cancer if they've never had a child, or were more than 30 years of age when their first child was born." ******* There are at least 2 mechanisms via which abortion can lead to 'nulliparity' (i.e. being childless) at menopause: ******* 1. A young childless woman rendered sterile via a side-effect of induced abortion (e.g. hysterectomy performed as the result of a perforated uterus) ******* 2. A woman at menopause who had induced abortions of all her pregnancies; (a Canadian woman having 2 or 3 induced abortions during her reproductive life is no longer rare). ******* The BC implications of both these induced abortion risks are NOT mentioned on any Canadian abortion consent form. The Canadian Cancer Society is a firm believer in informed medical consent. ******* As you are well aware, Dr. Barbara Whylie, each one year delay in a FFTP boosts a woman's breast cancer risk by a relative 3.5% (compounded). (International Journal of Cancer 1983;31:701-704) Can we assume that you accept the obvious, that a woman has a higher BC risk by having a first birth (FFTP) at age 29 than having a FFTP at age 25 or 20? You have conceded that a woman boosts her BC risk by having a first birth after age 30 (versus having one before age 30). Is there a mechanism via which induced abortion can assure that a woman has no full-term births before age 30? Yes, a woman who has induced abortions of all pregnancies before age 30 has assured herself than any deliveries of a newborn will occur on or after her 30th birthday. If you disagree with this fact, please cite references to support that disagreement. ******* To summarize, Dr. Whylie, you have rendered an excellent service to Canadian women by conceding that induced abortion carries two risks that boost a woman's odds of contracting breast cancer: ******* 1. nulliparity at menopause; (childless women have about 90% higher relative risk of breast cancer as women with first births before age 20) ******* 2. being over age 30 years at First Full-Term Pregnancy ******* Please inform us when the Canadian Cancer Society will inform the public that induced abortion has risks of making women childless and being over age 30 at first birth (FFTP), both breast cancer risks. By properly informing women of ABC risks (recognized, probable, and possible), literally hundreds (if not thousands) of Canadian women can be spared breast cancer; (please see the Appendix for a statement by medical researcher Emily White (Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center) to understand the large numbers involved). ******* (I am a medical researcher whose work has been published in the British Medical Journal, Epidemiology, Western Journal of Medicine, European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, etc.) ******* For Informed Medical Consent, ******* Brent Rooney Research Director Reduce Preterm Risk Coalition 3456 Dunbar St. (146) Vancouver, Canada V6S 2C2 ******** Appendix: Statement by medical researcher Emily White (PhD) (in 1987) ******** "If one estimates that a woman's lifetime risk of breast cancer is 8 per cent and her lifetime risk of death from breast cancer is 2.7 per cent, then the trend toward delay of childbearing would add approximately 70,000 [U.S.] excess cases and 25,000 [U.S.] excess breast cancer deaths for the 1950-54 cohort compared to what would have been expected if the fertility patterns of the 1935-39 cohort remained." (excerpt from: Projected Changes in Breast Cancer Incidence due to the Trend toward Delayed Childbearing. ******* Emily White. American Journal of Public Health 1987;77:495-497) ******* Researcher Emily White (Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, Washington) asserts that because women in the early 1950s were having first births at a higher age than women in the last half of the 1930s, that would result in 70,000 [U.S.] excess cases of breast cancer; since White used a lifetime BC risk of 8 per cent (not 12.5%), her 70,000 figure is likely much too low for women born after 1949). ********************************************************************************************************************* item 3 part C) PRO ABORTIONIST JANET DAILING'S STATEMENT ******* Dr. Janet Daling is a cancer researcher at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the University of Washington. Dr. Daling is self-described as 'pro-choice'. She states "I would have loved to have found no association between breast cancer and abortion, but our research is rock solid, and our data is accurate. Its not a matter of believing, its a matter of what is." ******* On 2 November 1994 Dr. Daling and fellow researchers published an article in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute (pp. 1584-1592) concerning induced abortion and breast cancer risk for premenopausal women. ******* Some key findings: ******* Women under age 18 who had an induced abortion have an increased breast cancer risk of 150%. ******* Women of age 30 and above who aborted a first pregnancy increase their breast cancer risk by 110%. ******* Overall, women who have an induced abortion have an increased breast cancer risk of 50%. ***************************************************************************************************************** item 3 part D) ******* from THE JOURNAL OF THE NATIONAL MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, a publication by black medical professionals concerned with black health problems. In the December 1993 issue JNMA published the results of a Howard University study. ******* Key finding: ******* Black women of age 50 and above who had at least 1 induced abortion have an increased breast cancer risk of 370%. ******* for more details contact ******* Mike Richmond Cancer Awareness Canada 810 W. A few months before his murder, he attended a debate called "Happy Chaos" organized by students and a leftist magazine. It descended into rancorous chaos when Mr. van Gogh called a Moslem leader the "prophet's pimp." ******* In August, van Gogh, known as the Michael Moore of Holland, aired on Dutch television a 10-minute English-language film titled, "Submission." The movie, writes the BBC, "caused an uproar." ******* The outcry centered on the stories of four Moslem women who were beaten, raped and forced into marriage, and were asking for Allah's help. It becomes apparent that their chadors and gowns are transparent and their half-naked bodies are visible through their dress. On their bodies are written Koranic verses describing the permitted physical punishments for women who "misbehave." ******* "Submission" was to be the first of three installments. Someone else will have to direct the other two. For as Slate's Ronald Rovers describes in detail, Theo is no longer with us: ******* On the morning of Nov. 2 in a busy street in east Amsterdam, a 26-year-old Dutch Moroccan named Mohammed Bouyeri pulled out a gun and shot ... Theo van Gogh, who was riding a bike to his office. Van Gogh hit the ground and stumbled across the street to a nearby building. He didn't make it. As the Moroccan strode toward him, van Gogh shouted: "We can still talk about it! Don't do it! Don't do it." ******* But the Moroccan didn't stop. He shot him again, slit Van Gogh's throat and stuck a letter to his chest with a knife. He was slaughtered like an animal, witnesses said. "Cut like a tire," said one. ******* As the Journal describes it, the letter fulminated against "infidels" and warned, "Hair-raising screams will be squeezed from the lungs of the non-believers." It ended in: ******* ... a Dutch incantation in the style of an Islamic verse: "I know for sure that you, O America, are going to meet with disaster. I know for sure that you, O Europe, are going to meet with disaster. I know for sure that you, O Netherlands, are going to meet with disaster." ******* What stunned Holland is that Bouyeri was born and educated in that most tolerant of countries, where drugs are done in public and all manner of sex is on sale. Nor was Bouyeri destitute. ******* When police went to arrest his friends, they put up a fight. Mosques have since been torched, churches burned, and Dutch leaders who have denounced Islamic fanatics have been threatened with ritual slaughter and beheadings. Dutch police now believe Holland has a sizable nest of homegrown terrorists among its million Moslems. ******* Welcome to the New Europe. Twenty million Muslims now reside there and are the fastest-growing minority on a continent where the native-born populations of every country save Muslim Albania are failing to reproduce themselves or have begun to die out. ******** Europe faces the dilemma of a post-Christian civilization that has lost all moral certitude to worship at the altars of diversity and tolerance. As Slate writes: "The Dutch filmmaker believed that insulting people was his right as a free citizen. The Moslem fanatic who slaughtered him didn't agree." ******* How does Holland, how does Europe deal with a militant faith that preaches that to do your own thing means to do God's will and punish insulters of that faith be they a van Gogh or Salman Rushdie? ******* As Muslims move toward majority status, why should they not use Europe's democratic procedures to establish Islamic law and make theirs the faith of Europe, as Christians did and secularists have now done? ******* To devout Muslims, what Europe offers is godless materialism and hedonism, a life devoid of meaning and purpose, save pleasure and self-indulgence. They prefer to do Allah's bidding in this world to ensure they share his paradise in the next. ******** Undeniably, Islam is rising. And, like all rising faiths, it is intolerant. Disbelieving that all religions are equal "There is one God, Allah, and Mohammed is his Prophet" Islam does not believe all faiths should be treated equally. Why should they be? If one has God's revealed truth, why should one tolerate lies that lead to the damnation of the faithful? ******* In its new constitution, the European Union has declared Christianity a dead relic. What Islam is saying with its militancy, its soaring birth rate, it steady replacement of dying Europeans with young Muslim immigrants is: "Christianity may be your past, but we are your future." ******* My money's on the true believers. ******* SPECIAL OFFER: Pat Buchanan's book, "The Death of the West," an eye-opening expos of how immigration invasions are endangering America, is now available at HALF-PRICE from WorldNetDaily's online store! Autographed edition also available! ******* Patrick J. Buchanan was twice a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination and the Reform Partys candidate in 2000. He is also a founder and editor of the new magazine, The American Conservative. Now a political analyst for MSNBC and a syndicated columnist, he served three presidents in the White House, was a founding panelist of three national television shows, and is the author of seven books. ********************************************************************************************************************
