Societies go through several stages from birth to death, as we do as individuals. Studies done by historians on the subject all agree to these statements about the birth and death of nations. ******* Going a step further, noted historian, J.D. Udwin and Russian Pitirim Sorokin a Harvard Sociologist have studied societies going back as far as 3000 years +. They noted that most societies last on average 200 years and as you are well aware Canada is about 150 years old and now in decay. How do I know this? ******* Some have put the stages of growth and decay of societies in 8- 10 steps. Some have put the rise and decline in three phases. Near the end we have moral decay, social decay, devaluing of moral standards and families. Moral decay is marked by the acceptance of many sexual deviations from the natural and the decline of families and spiritual beliefs and religion. ******* Families have been recognized as the core of society, for which many noted historians, anthropologist, and sociologist have stated in many, many articles and studies. ******* I.e., in Quebec, their culture is in decline, because of abortion, vasectomies and the decline of marriage and hence families, which give rise to children, who carry on the traditions and culture. The French Culture is dying very quickly. The language may survive but the culture will be dead. Culture survives in the people and their children, no children, no culture vehicle into the future. ******* Your government and it appears the one to follow, if it is either John Manly, Sheila Copps or Paul Martin will continue the road of destruction that has been set out before them, if what is portrayed in the media is true. ******* Either one can hope that this train can be slowed and turned around or just the opposite, get on with it and destroy this society for from the ashes will begin another cycle that will give hope to have at its center those values that will keep it safe and strong, namely families which have survived many governments, tyrants and deviates. ******* * one of the longest surviving society is that of the UK, but unfortunately it to is in to spiritual and moral decay. ******* Former Liberal supporter. ******* Herman H. Historian Will Durant said, "There is no significant example in history, before our time, of a society successfully maintaining moral life without the aid of religion." ******* Moral Decay (The last stage of collapse) ******* Three important trends demonstrate moral decay. They are the "rise in immorality," the "decay of religious belief," and the "devaluing of human life." ******* The classic study of Roman civilization, The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, written by English historian Edward Gibbon was published in that famous year of 1776. He "observed that the leaders of the empire gave into the vices of strangers, morals collapsed, laws became oppressive, and the abuse of power made the nation vulnerable to the barbarian hordes." ******* British historian Catherine Edwards demonstrated that our current examples of immorality are not a modern phenomenon. In her study of the "politics of immorality" in ancient Rome, she says that contraception, abortion, and exposure were common ways to prevent childbirth in Rome. Husbands refused to recognize any child they did not believe to be their own. "Until accepted by its father, a Roman baby did not, legally speaking, exist." Life became cheap in the latter days of the Roman Empire. Burdensome regulation and taxes made manufacturing and trade unprofitable. Families were locked into hereditary trades and vocations allowing little if any vocational choice. Eventually, children were seen as a needless burden and abortion and infanticide became commonplace. In some cases, children were sold into slavery. ******* Manners and social life fell into debauchery. Under Justinian, entertainment grew bawdier and more bizarre. Orgies and love feasts were common. Homosexuality and bestiality were openly practiced. Under Nero, Christians were blamed for the great fire in Rome and horribly persecuted. ******* Similar patterns can be found in other civilizations. In Greece, the music of the young people became wild and coarse. Popular entertainment was brutal and vulgar. Promiscuity, homosexuality, and drunkenness became a daily part of life. And all moral and social restraints were lost leading to greater decadence. ******* In Carthage, worship turned from Baal to the earth goddess Tanit. "Sacrifices to the goddess of fertility were supposed to ensure productivity, long life, and even greater profits." Ornately carved funeral monuments depicting infant sacrifice can be seen today along with thousands of tiny stone coffins to infants sacrificed to the pagan goddess. ******* The parallels to our own nation are striking. No, we don't sacrifice infants to a pagan goddess, but we have aborted nearly 3 million babies on the altar of convenience. And various sexual practices are openly accepted as part of an alternative lifestyle. Well, I know the Greek system tried people by what they thought, which quite frankly is the way I was tried. So I get offended. But does that make it unconstitutional? I submit it doesn't," Moore told reporters after appearing on Alabama Public Television's "For The Record" news show. ******* Moore said he had not fielded reporters' questions in recent months because someone was always waiting to use his comments in the federal court suit over the 5,280-pound monument. But now that the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled, he said he plans to speak out regularly. ******* Moore moved the monument into the lobby of the state judicial building two years ago. Three attorneys sued him, calling the monument offensive. ******* "I submit just because I'm offended or anybody else is offended at a monument or a statue doesn't make it unconstitutional," Moore said Wednesday evening. ******* U.S District Judge Myron Thompson ruled the monument violates the U.S. Constitution's prohibition on government promotion of religion. A three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously affirmed Thompson's decision on July 1. ******* Now Moore has the choice of asking the full 11th Circuit to hear the case or asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review it. ******* Moore declined to say what he would do if the U.S. Supreme Court orders him to remove the monument. ******* "Once I've acknowledged God, then to take it out and say you can't acknowledge him any more, that's a very serious consideration. God does love everyone, but not our sins, which is the reason Christ died and rose again--to save us from sin. God loves murderers, anorexics and liars-- and wants these people to stop their damage to others and to themselves. It�s the same with homosexuality. Such desires are directly the opposite of positive, healthy choices, and scientists remain unconvinced that any humans are born to become homosexual. Plenty of evidence attests to the damage to the body, mind and spirit resulting from homosexual sex. There are many logical reasons why it remains a sin. ******* Myth #2: THE BIBLE DOES NOT OPPOSE HOMOSEXUALITY.If the Bible�s clear passages against homosexuality can�t be believed, it isn�t believable on anything. Consider: �You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.� (Leviticus 18:22) And, �For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.� (Romans 1:26-27) And these aren�t the sole passages, but the others are similar and convey the same message: Don�t. ******* Myth # 3: THE STORY OF SODOM AND GOMORRAH DID NOT CONDEMN HOMOSEXUALITY. On the contrary, the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19) is quite obviously about homosexuality. The sins of the people were numerous, but their �trademark� sin was homosexual sex, which is apparent in the original passage as well as later Bible references to the event. ******* In the Genesis account, Lot and his family barricade themselves and their male guests inside their home as protection against the sexual depravity of a gang of males: �Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot and said to him, �Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally.�� (verses 4-5) Lot begs them to go away, then offers them his virgin daughters instead (one more clear indication of the predators� goal). Despite Lot�s questionable parenting here, the mob threatens Lot and accuses him of being judgmental (shades of 2005!), then begins to break down the door. The two guests, who�ve previously been identified as angels (verse 1), pull Lot back into the house and send a blinding light to disperse the crowd. The angels then instruct Lot and his family to flee the town, which they are about to destroy. Thi! s destruction occurs soon afterward. ******* The Bible provides a laundry list of grave sins committed by the Sodomites: pride and insolence (see Ezekiel 16:49-50; 2 Peter 2: 6-10), gluttony (Ezekiel 16:49), greed and laziness (Ezekiel 16:49-50) disrespect toward God and His true believers(Isaiah 3:9, Ezekiel 16:50), false worship (Deuteronomy 29:23-26; Isaiah 1:10-11; Jeremiah 23:14; Ezekiel 16: 46-56), lies, especially by the prophets/priests (Jeremiah 23:14), violence (Isaiah 1:21) and neglecting the poor and orphaned (Isaiah 1:23, Ezekiel 16:49-50). The main sin mentioned is sexual immorality (Jeremiah 23:14; Ezekiel 46-56, 2 Peter 2:6-18; Jude 7-19), specifically homosexuality (Genesis 19:4-5; Ezekiel 16:50; 2 Peter 6-18; Jude 7-8) Subsequent references to the �twin cities� in both the Old and New Testaments use them as a metaphor or simile for many types of bad behavior, by which we get more information about their nature and reputation. Sodom and Gomorrah are also frequently referenced as examples of total corr! uption, subject to God�s wrath (Genesis 18:20; Deuteronomy 29:23; Isaiah 13:19; Jeremiah 49:18 and 50:40; Amos 4:11; Zephaniah 2: 9-10; Romans 9:29; 2 Peter 2:6-19), including by Jesus Himself (Matthew 10:15 and 11:24; Luke 10:12). Jesus was describing the fate of those cities refusing to hear the Gospel. ******* Some ill-informed Christian writers contend Sodom and Gomorrah really describes the consequences of being �poor hosts� to strangers, violating customs in the ancient near East. When one reads all the relevant Bible passages, such a pitiful and inadequate explanation is not possible. ******* Myth #4: REAL CHRISTIAN LOVE CALLS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF HOMOSEXUALITY. On the contrary, the authentic Christian is characterized by devotion to truth and love as revealed by Christ, not mushy sentimentality swayed by today�s worldly trends. While Christ is often merciful even to those who have sinned, He never excuses sin or calls it less than what it is. John the Baptist�s primary message to the world to prepare for Christ was not a call for tolerance; it was a call to repentance. (Matthew 3:2; Mark 1:4) Christ told the woman caught in adultery, �Go and sin no more.� (John 8:11) Love as exemplified by Christ was always framed with His truth and righteousness. Christ said, �He who has my commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me.� (John 14:21) and �If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word.� (John 14:23) Real love starts with love of Christ and all He taught. ******* The passage, �Judge not, that you be not judged� (Matthew 7:1) cautions us to judge carefully without hypocrisy, not to withhold judgment. Four verses later, Christ completes the thought with, �Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother�s eye.� (Matthew 7:5) ******* Myth #5: JESUS NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY. And Jesus is never quoted on the subjects of rape or wife beating either. Would that mean that these actions are okay? Christ was God on earth, and as such, was part of all the Old Testament teaching on sexual morality. The Jews were more than familiar with this, so there was a lot that didn�t need to be said. And Christ specifically described marriage as being �from the beginning� between one man and one woman. (John 8:31-32) ******* 1. A cross is not visible anywhere. ******* 2. There is no mention of personal sin or repentance. ******* 3. There is an atmosphere of personal therapy, with frequent mention of spirituality, tolerance, justice and love, defined by each person according to his/her unique needs. ******* 4. The Bible is consulted only if a verse is needed to prove to those who actually believe it, how wrong they are. The Bible is not God's revelation to us, but the views of earlier, quite inferior humans, so it can't be worth much, except for a few useful verses. ******* 5. Christ is not God incarnate, nor is He our Savior, nor the only way to salvation. Christ is a good teacher and role model, always approving of a person's own instincts, ideas and behavior. ******* 6. Other beliefs -- Buddhism, Hinduism, New Age beliefs, witchcraft, Islam--are possible paths to salvation as well, even if their core tenets directly contradict Christian precepts. There is nothing all that special, as it turns out, about Christ. ******* 7. There is no real truth. Any discussion of "truth" is presumptuous and, well, tacky. ******* 8. It's way too patriarchal to quote from Bible verses that call God "Father," Christ "Son," or people collectively as "brothers" or "men." Recent broad Bible translations are the only ones permitted, those with "gender neutral" language, even if the meaning is radically altered. . ******* 9. The primary message is what is termed social justice-- redistribution of money, guilt over the poor, guilt over racial issues (even if you're African -American), "gay" rights, feminism, environmentalism, the evil of the religious "right." But actually, there is no real "evil," not even Saddam Hussein nor Al-Queda, which is all a big misunderstanding that could be remedied with "dialogue." ******* 10. What is not covered: Christ's atonement and sacrifice, the significance of the Resurrection, Bible prophecy, the Fall of man in the Garden, Moses and the law, the realm of angels/demons/Satan, the great Flood, forgiveness, sexual virtue, or how to witness to others about Christ. ******* 11. Offerings are taken for new church renovations, buildings, or the downtown soup kitchen. Never are funds raised to send missionaries to Kenya , for a campus mission group, or for the local pro-life pregnancy center. ******* 12. Youth groups learn a lot about sharing and doing good deeds. They also go on hay rides, go bowling, go to a nice camp and hear talks by same sex couples about the need for "equality." They have virtually no Bible study, they pray to whatever concept of deity is in their heads, and never learn from Scripture who Christ is, why repentance is necessary for salvation, and how to be born again by the Holy Spirit. ******* 13. Women study groups are likely to be prayer circles, where personal problems, particularly with husbands or families, are the focus. They sometimes encourage women to imagine and pray to their own personal version of "God," including a goddess-substitute. Christ as Savior is an irrelevant non-subject. ******* 14. A typical men's meeting will be a self-help forum about becoming more submissive to the women in their lives; gaining more confidence/self-esteem on the job, and fulfilling the church's need for them to repair/transport/set up/tear down/ give money/submit to women. They are not encouraged to know their Savior, who could truly and nobly empower their lives. ******* 15. Most Sundays will pass without the name of Jesus ever being mentioned. ******* 16. Small groups will explore trendy subjects like "The Da Vinci Code, "A Course in Miracles" or dream interpretation, further confusing any genuine understanding of Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit. They will not study Genesis, Job, Ephesians, Romans, the minor Prophets, or Paul's missionary journeys, since they don't believe any of this really happened. ******* 17. There will be no fear of engaging in meditation or channeling, consulting a medium, conducting a ritual ( a spell), or many other practices specifically and emphatically forbidden in Scripture. ******* 18. Those who believe in the authenticity of Scripture are called divisive bigots. There is no attempt at humble reconsideration of this viewpoint. ******* 19. People don't believe in Christ, but do believe in themselves. ******* 20. Everyone does what is right in his /her own eyes.
