CFS - Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
A serious and debilitating condition that can last for years and even life.
The most profound symptom is fatigue and exhaustion accompanied by other symptoms such as:

Memory and concerntration impairment
An intense flu-like feeling
Muscle pain and weakness
Sleep distrubance and insomnia
Headaches
Depression
Nausea
Fever and chills
Sore throat
Joint pain (not unlike arthritis)
Unrefreshing sleep
Irritability

The cause of CFS is still unknown. Many believe that CFS is an abnormal response to a virus or some other trigger
Sixty percent of sufferers begin to get symptoms after an infection such as
Glandular Fever, Ross River Virus or a severe flu.
There is also no known cure as yet. There is no test at present that can accurately diagnose CFS.
There are however several things you can do to reduce the severity of some symptoms

People that suffer srom CFS often have symptoms that vary from day to day
and sometimes hour to hour, ranging from near wellness to utter exhaustion, from mild discomfort to crippling pain.

The nature of this illness can be confusing for everyone, especially
medical professionals as clients may look well some days.

Be aware of the emotions of people suffering from CFS as they may be feeling at a loss,
filled with grief, isolation and loneliness. Most people with CFS are unable to work
because of their physical and/or intellectual symptoms.

Many people that suffer from CFS develop allergies that were non existant prior to onset.
Plus their sensitivities to substances increases dramatically.

So how is it treated?

Because CFS affect each person differntly the most effective forms of treatment vary.
However, the best form of treatment seems to involve management of lifestyle:

Plenty of rest
A good nutritional diet
The use of supplements such as vitamins,
minerals, amino acids and anti-oxidants
Sensible GENTLE exercise
