Black Chenille Mittens and Scarf Set

This is a set that started with a project I dubbed The Neverending Scarf. I started this scarf over ten years before its long-awaited completion! I'd purchased the yarn at a shop that no longer exists. I'd seen a nice chenille scarf a friend had and I decided to make one like it. I wasn't as "into" knitting back when I started the scarf and one reason it took so long was it was a black hole of knitting...almost literally. The black chenille yarn soaked up any light in the room and it was nearly impossible to see what I was doing. I had to use stitch markers every four stitches just to be able to keep track of what I was doing with simple K2P2 rib! Once it was finally finished, I made the mittens to match. (Click on the photo to see it at full size.)
