This was just a fun little project. I used a different yarn than the pattern called for, which was Incredible from Lion Brand. (Click on the photo to see it at full size.)
One suggestion I'd have is to use a zip tie to bind the whole thing up. Worked great to secure my loose ends (the ends of this stuff don't stay put) and it's nice and tight. Yarn: Lion Brand Incredible
