It was after a fatal dose of radiation that the Third Doctor regenerated into the Fourth. As his sentence of exile had expired during his third regeneration, the Doctor decided to again travel through Time and Space.

   The fourth Doctor was instantly recognisable; wearing his wide-brimmed felt hat, long coat with bottomless pockets and nine foot long scarf.

   If there was evil around, the Fourth Doctor would fight it. However, he could be cold and aloof one moment, but brimming with enthusiasm for the life of a daisy the next.

   This Doctor, like his predecessor the Second Doctor, had a great ability for hiding his intelligence, which proved a handy tool. However, some enemies such as Davros, the creator of the Daleks, didn't underestimate the Doctor, but still found him hard to trap and destroy.

   Lasting seven years, this Doctor became a favourite between viewers, young and old alike. Eventually, it was falling from a radio telescope after another battle with the Master that caused the Doctor to regenerate again.
