Susan was the Doctor's 15-year-old granddaughter and was attending Coal Hill School when her teachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright followed her home one night, intrigued by her extreme intelligence and sometimes strange behaviour. Susan was fiercely loyal to the Doctor, however when he whisked the two teachers away with them, Susan developed a close bond with Barbara. During her adventures, Susan encountered Marco Polo and Napoleon. After defeating the Daleks for the second time, the Doctor decided to leave Susan on Earth, realising her future was with young freedom fighter, David Campbell.
