Mike Bellefeuille - vocals, harmonica, auxilary musician born: 27 January 1985, Manchester, NH - resides: Boston, Mass. joined band: April 2001, founding member favorite albums: Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (The Beatles), Pink Moon (Nick Drake), The Velvet Underground (The Velvet Underground), Abbey Road (The Beatles), After the Gold Rush (Neil Young) musical inspirations: The Beatles, Lou Reed, Nick Drake, Led Zeppelin favorite Future Husbands songs: "Lydia" and "Green Meadow Woman" Neal and I have been writing music together for over two years now. It's pretty amazing to think about it and look back at how far we've come. And it's great now to have two amazing musicians with us, Carvill and JTrain of course. The four of us first played together almost a year ago, and it was amazing. I remember the first time we played "Lydia" on March 8th in Portland. I had written the lyrics a few days earlier and had something in mind for the music, then we were all sitting in Neal's basement jamming and put the real music to it. A few hours later, we were up there on stage playing it. Carvill's drums blew me away, he did this amazing stuff on the cymbals just as the guitar solo was ending and we were returning to the third verse. That's when I knew we had the band. Finally, we were a band. And it's great to be still with this amazing group of guys. It's like Neal always says, Sausalito's always been about the friendship first and the music second. I think we're finally ready to lay down some tracks and maybe put a real recording out there in a few months. We'll have to see. But I can't wait.

Matt Jeffery - former guitarist Matt Jeffery was asked to join the band by founders Mike and Neal in spring 2001. He took over lead guitar, which Neal had held for a whopping few weeks, and Neal became the drummer. Matt jammed and helped work on some of the band's first songs over the summer of 2001. He also played guitar in the band's first and only perfomance of 2001. Unfortunately, due to his location and his lack of contact with the band, Mike, Neal, and Jon saw less and less of Matt over the next year. He often told the band he would get together with them at different points in 2002, but once it became apparent that Matt would not be able to meet up with the band, the made the unfortunate but necessary decision to drop him from the line-up.
Jay Trayne - lyricist, stand-in bassist, keyboards Jeremy Strain, credited by his nickname as Jay Trayne, is a friend of the bandmembers. Jay Trayne is from Old Orchard Beach, Maine. He co-wrote "You May Think" and "You, Me, and a Led Zeppelin CD" with Neal Munn. Jay's collaboration with the band has spawned a number of creative works. Jay is also an excellent pianist and has written several pieces for the piano. His hard work and devotion, coupled with his outgoing personality make him a memorable character and a great friend... don't be surprised to see more collaborations with this musicial genius in the future. UPDATE: Jay Trayne has now performed with the Future Husbands on two seperate occasions in March 2003. He has also been involved in a number of jam sessions with Mike, Neal, and Eric recently.

Formed in the spring of 2001 by Mike Bellefeuille and Neal Munn, Sausalito was originally called the Future Husbands of Kirsten Dunst and was created as a creative outlet for the pair for that summer when they would be employed in Sebago Lake, Maine. Shortly thereafter the two recruited Jon Gulley and Matt Jeffery, both of whom would also be working in Sebago Lake. Despite high expectations among the members of the band, little was accomplished over the summer and Matt returned to his home in northern Maine while Jon moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mike and Neal returned to their homes in southern New Hampshire and Maine, respectively. Mike and Neal began working on songs that fall, Mike writing most of the lyrics and sending them to Neal who wrote guitar parts. Originally, Neal was to be the guitarist and Mike the singer, but once the band grew, Neal moved to drums, Jon played bass and the most experienced musician, Matt, played guitar. With Jon and Matt so far away however, the original lineup seemed at least appropriate for songwriting purposes. By Christmas of 2001, Neal had completed the band's first demo tape, containing three songs: "Coming Home" (Bellefeuille/Munn), "Melanie" (Bellefeuille/Munn) and "(title)" (Munn). Having a recording of their work was provided the motivation that the pair needed in order to keep the band afloat after months of relative inactivity. Over the next few months, two more demo tapes were made, but the group was still divided by distance and communication problems and had not played together since July. When Matt announced that he would not be returning to Sebago Lake for the summer with the other three, the band's outlook began to once again look rather bleak. As a result, Matt was placed on hiatus status and Neal resumed his original role, with Jon still on bass and Mike on vocals. MORE INFORMATION TO COME. UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

Just as you wouldn't try to simultaneously analyze a Rembrandt and finish your trigonometry homework, do not give great music anything but your undivided attention. When you finish reading this, put away anything distracting and listen to "Sister Ray" at once. You'll feel better immediately. |
