Dr. Krome, a brilliant innovator in the field of nano-technology, was funded by Redstone Research to perfect a programmable smart metal, which he named "Metal X".
Metal X is an armor like protective suit strong enough to withstand the harshest environments on or off the Earth.
Max decides to build weapons systems for the suit, and sell it to the highest bidder, but Owen Parrish, C.E.O. of Redstone Research, finds out and cancels Max's funding, leaving him out in the cold--but not for long.
Now allied with a new sponsor, Max perfected another smart metal which he bonded to his body that gives him fantastic abilities.
Max now seeks to reaquire Metal X as well as revenge on Owen Parrish.
