9.01: “Universal Library” (Part 3 of 3)
Farnsworth’s brain is returned to his body and he formulates a plan to get back the now destroyed Earth. Fry, Bender and Leela are forced to hightail it to the Galaxy of Terror in order to visit the mysterious “Universal Library”, a warehouse full of compact discs storing landscapes of Earth from different time periods. After a long rummage, the crew return the Earth to its usual 3005 form. Farnsworth, however, explains their problems with the brain spawn are far from over.
9.02: “The Funeral of Seymour the Dog”
The Planet Express crew finally give Seymour a proper send-off, but not before Fry regales them of his past adventures with his beloved dog. (All in the convenient flashback form). Meanwhile, Hermes resorts to extreme measures to keep Zoidberg away from the funeral refreshments.
9.03: “Bender and Flexo’s Bogus Journey”
Flexo is re-hired at Planet Express in order to help fulfil a delivery, in which only bending machines can complete. However, soon the crew’s mission becomes an all-out contest between Bender and Flexo, both determined to prove one is a better bending machine than the other. Leela, tired of their bickering, decides to set up the ultimate challenge to prove both Bender and Flexo’s strength. Either of them unable to do the mission must do the unthinkable – team up, or else await their expiration date.
9.04: “The Most Wonderful Time of the Fear”
Xmas turns into the most important election of all time when Santa goes head to head with Richard Nixon and runs for president. Fry, Bender and Leela try desperately to put a stop to the elections but are horrified to discover that Santa has bribed Nixon into becoming president in return for some embarrassing items.
9.05: “Anthology of Interest VI”
Farnsworth fiddles with the what-if machine and the crew gather round to ask more questions. What if Zoidberg was a famous universe-trotting comedian, what if Fry was a head in a jar and what if Bender was living in the year 1999 and was Fry’s best friend?
9.06: “Monopolized”
Fry, Bender and Leela get tied up in an updated, futuristic version of the classic game Monopoly. They soon realise, however, that it is the most realistic – yet dangerous – game ever created. Soon, Fry and Leela become afraid of passing the feared “Go” and Bender is caught up in trying to escape from the prison. Zoidberg, meanwhile, takes it in himself to rescue the crew from the game, realising that they are trapped.
9.07: “So Long and Sorry for the Clip Show”
Curver, a long-time friend, is leaving New New York City. Fry encourages Bender and Leela to help him arrange a leaving party at Planet Express. To wrap up the evening, they reminisce about their good times with Curver, along with some of their other adventures.
9.08: “Bodyswap”
Farnsworth’s latest invention results in the Planet Express crew swapping each other’s bodies. Whilst Fry enjoys the “bonuses” of Leela’s body, Leela will do whatever it takes to get out of Zoidberg. The crew are sent to Estron III for the reverse tonic, only to discover it is the new vicinity of the Electric Army. (7.09, “The Electric Army”). Zoidberg, now in Bender’s body, is quick to be enlisted. The crew, particularly Bender, are in desperate need of the tonic, now more than ever.
9.09: “Run Fry Run”
Leela finally agrees to a date with Fry. Fry worries he has blown his chances, so Professor Farnsworth helps out by giving him a time-turner. However, it will only work for 3 turns – meaning that Fry only has 3 more chances on his date. Fry mistakenly turns the time-turner for a fourth time, resulting in rip in space-time continuum. Fry must now save the world from it’s deadly effects, ultimately hoping to score with Leela.
9.10: “And the Sinner Is...”
The Robot Devil rises from under the ground, revealing Robot Doomsday is coming. Bender is among all the other robots going crazy and realises to be spared he will have to put an end to his sinful ways. Fry and Leela, meanwhile, travel to Robot Hell to try and bargain with the Devil in his Doomsday plans.
9.11: “Futurama Wars Episode I: The Phantom Tennis”
Leela gets a surprise when her old tennis rival Carol from the orphanarium arrives at Planet Express. Carol is still fuming over her defeat so many years ago, and challenges Leela to another match. Leela, realising what a professional Carol has become, turns to Farnsworth for help. Farnsworth invents a winning tennis racket and Leela is ready to play. However, during the match, the racket malfunctions, causing a possible rift in the space time continuum. But, only if Leela wins the game.
9.12: “Ace Brannigan”
Zapp Brannigan’s famous father Ace arrives on the Nimbus and is instantly popular, resulting in Zapp being banished off of the ship. He turns to Planet Express and asks the crew to help him get his job back. But not before boring them in the story of how he first joined the DOOP, and his bad relationship with his father, Ace.
9.13: “Return to the Near Death Star”
Cubert becomes head of Planet Express when Professor Farnsworth mysteriously goes missing. Fry, tired of being bossed around by Cubert, looks into the strange disappearance of Farnsworth and is led to believe that Cubert has sent him back to the Near Death Star.
9.14: “Electri Fry”
On a delivery to the mysterious planet Electobe VII, Fry becomes magnetic resulting from an accident. Fry’s friendship with Bender is effectively ruined because of this, so he becomes determined to return to Electobe VII in order to reverse the effects. Problems arise, however, when Fry discovers the planet is undergoing an inquisition in which all electric or magnetic beings are to be executed.
