Yui is Miaka's best friend, but she looks and acts more grown up than Mika at times. Seems strong but inside of her she wants to depend on others. Thinks more with her head than heart. Yui and Miaka discovered the book of The Four Gods together but since Yui was the only one who could read the anciant chinese language the book was written in, she was the one who read the first pages. Yui was transported into the book along with Miaka by mistake. When Suzaku realized Yui was there, she was sent out of the book and back to her real world leaving Miaka behind. Seems Miaka was the one destined to be Suzaku no Miko from the beginning. Back on the library, Yui reads the book following allong with Miaka's adventures inside the book. They later discover they are connected by their school uniforms and whatever happens to Miaka in the book, happens to Yui in the real world as she reads. Yui wants to help her friend come back home and uses her will and power of friendship to return to the book. But this time Yui ends up in Kutou, the country on the East on war with Konan, where Miaka was. Lost on the city, she runs into two bandids who attack her and she's rescued by Kutou's General, Nakago. Nakago tries to get her to become the enemy of Konan and become Seiryuu no Miko. To convince her, he tells her she had been rape when he rescued her and makes her believe Miaka has betrayed her.

Flame's Opinion on Yui- I actually tend to get more annoyed by Yui than by Miaka. She might be very smart when it comes to books and school, but let Nakago control her mind and came to conclusions very quickly without thinking too much. I think this was due to always being jelous of Miaka. Yui is a nice girl, but she's very competitive. I also think she was an idiot for not paying attention to Suboshi's feelings for her.
