Libby was found wandering a country road, lost and bewildered. She was lucky that a Humane Society member found her on the way to a July 4th Celebration. That's why she was named Liberty or Libby for short.

She was quite a sick little girl when she was rescued, and the Humane Society took care of her. She was treated for heart worms, and was spayed.  She was discovered to have mammary tumors also.  In spite of much time at the vet's, she came home and lived a comfy and happy life with her foster family, and waited for them to find her a loving forever home.

Sadly, on March 22, 2009, Libby lost her valiant fight, and died of heart failure.
The Blount County Humane Society would like to thank Chris and Larry James, and Lisa and Mike Stewart for providing Libby a wonderful home and taking such good care of her.  We know the first part of Libby's life was probably sad and full of neglect, but with the Humane Society and her foster parents' help and loving care, the end of her life was certainly happier!
