Rain
I walked through the sunlight,
With those who bask in the glory of monogamy,
I’ve been down the path to "success,"
Why does it feel like failure?
I’ve retraced my steps back to a fork in my path,
Where the choice seemed far from complicated,
As one path was filled with thunderclouds and hardships,
While the other was blossoming with shortcuts.
But this time, I don’t take the path of deception,
Full of lies and satire and betrayal,
Rather I walk through the rain with my head held high,
And earn my success honestly.
So perhaps the sunshine is more pleasant,
But things that are pleasant are not always chivalrous,
And as I walk through the rain with my goal in sight,
I realize that through all my troubles,
It was worth it.
