I lay beside the shore and ponder
Over this world so full of wonder,
With endless hills for me to wander,
And then back home to none again.
So discreetly here I stand
And let my gaze rove o'er the land,
Inspecting each secret with careful hand,
Yet ignorant I remain.
Frustrating is the task I take,
A better place this world to make,
Both for yours and for my sake,
Until sleep I gladly claim.
In my dreams I receive no rest,
My mind's eye being put to the test,
I am questioned, "What's right and best?"
But still I have no answer.
