The Ice Prince
by Elisabeth Spalding
When it’s all over,
Will you still smile for me?
Will you open your innermost self
And shine like the beautiful star
I know you to be?
Or will you once again shy away
From my embrace,
Tentatively watching me from Behind your lashes?
Your long, ebony lashes,
So beautifully placed upon
Your porcelain eyelids;
Some murmur in distaste
At your pallid skin,
But to me you are all the more
Alluring,
Hypnotizing me with your dark,
Endless eyes.
How I long to gaze into your eyes;
Bottomless black pools of
Emotion;
Love;
Hate;
I wonder sometimes
When the moon is full and ominous,
My white prince,
Will you ever feel anything for me?
