My Blackened Rose

written by Liz

Take my anger,
Hold it in my hands;
A blood red rose
Pure in its blind,
Boiling passion;
Yet slowly tainted by malicious
Intentions conceived in the
Darkest recesses of
My blackened heart.

Hate you!--
Hate the way you make
My heart pound,
A snare drum of spite in my chest;
Loathe you!--
Loathe the vicious pattern,
A chain reaction,
Seeing your sneer incites.

Taunt me with your
Slanderous tongue,
Rip me apart by the
Ends of my soul and
Read the red of me like
A bloody open diary,
Purging my bleeding heart of
My deepest secrets;
Say not a word, yet say
Everything
In your simple, sneering smile...

Hate you.
Hate you like a frenzied tiger
Hates the hunter closing in;
Pure animalistic impulses flood the veins,
Chanting like the devil's choir,
"Rip him,
Tear him limb from limb and
Grind what's left into the earth.
Maul him!
Scald him!
Make him scream for a sweet mercy
That will never come!"

Nails like claws like daggers
Embedding themselves deeply
At the base of a throat so clogged with
Mockeries and insults
That malice pours forth from the wound
In a blackened, tarnished torrent.

Your pain makes me smile.
