Saturday in Nanchang
Happy to report a major victory! Lyndsay slept through the night for the first time since we've had her. Yeah!!!  We were still up before 5am, but we're making progress.  We were sitting at breakfast this morning, which by the way is going much better, (Lyndsay is beginning to eat more and more solid food) and the whole table and everything for that matter, began to shake.  We were experiencing an earthquake, unbelievable. It only lasted a short while, but apparently was a very rare occurance.  The worst of the quake was about 100 miles North of us and registered as a 5.7 on the Ricter scale, it killed 3 people from what we learned later. James our guide said that this was highly unusual and he seemed a bit upset about it, especially since it occurred in his hometown.  Later he spoke to his family and they were all fine.

After breakfast we headed for the most popular tourist attraction in this area Tengwang Pavillon. Nanchang actually has very little in the way of points of interest from a travelers perspective, but time didn't permit very much sightseeing . Even if we had the time, we were all so tired, I doubt we would have felt like doing  much more then we did.   The pavillon was originally built in A.D. 653, but was ruined and rebuilt as many as 28 times.  The current building is nine stories high and was built in 1989.  This was a beautiful place to visit, with the gardens as awesome as the building itself.  Time once again didn't allow for too much exploration, but what we were able to view from the balcony above revealed a lovely, landscaped area below.  We were grateful that we didn't stay too long since we had to carry Lyndsay the whole time, with the number of steps, strollers were discouraged.  We had planned to use a Snugli carrier, but Lyndsay would not fit in it, so we left that in China along with other unneeded supplies for future parents.

We went to a local restuarant for lunch to have traditional Chinese food, it was an elegant place, but the food was really spicy, which is the norm for this region. Once again we discovered all too well that the babies food would be served after the adults....this doesn't work very well as we've discovered in the past and Lyndsay got pretty antsy, she began to act out, her style of letting you know "she just ain't happy!" and James and Jacequline took turns with keeping her occupied so we could enjoy our lunch...they are both so fantastic....we will always treasure the time we had with them in Nanchang.

We returned to the hotel briefly to regroup and then we went to a shopping area called the Free Market. This area is noted for good discounted shopping with a variety of vendors, this is were the locals themselves shop for bargains.  We found some neat books, music and other bilingual things for Lyndsay as she is able to read and understand more. We also found a nice pair of shoes for her. Once again our time here was really limited, we would have liked to go back, but just not enough hours to do everything.  Dinner came in the form of the Golden Arches tonight.  Never thought that I'd actually enjoy eating at McDonald's, but after so much other stuff it was a refreshing change.

There are many photos from today especially from Tengwang Pavillon, so don't forget to look!
