| Thanksgiving we had a visit from the doctor who looked at Lyndsay, he said that her throat was swollen and he prescribed anitbiotics and cough medicine. That night, we all went to a Chinese restaurant and ate dinner...all, but Bane that is since they neglected to bring the babies food out first and they were all getting antsy and upset, so we had to take turns eating and by the time we fed her and I ate, the food was about cold and he lost his appetitie. Not the best meal we've had, but seeing Lyndsay come to life made up for it. She was wound up tight and played for a long time with her "BaBa". She gets tickleed with herself and will thrash her head from side to side and wrinkle her nose and make funny nasal sounds, then laugh out load. This was our breakthrough day, the first time she felt well enough to play and be herself. In a few days time it became apparent that we have a two legged Bogen on our hands! LOL, for those of you who know Bogen, he's very demanding and loves to eat! and is VERY impatient if you don't meet those needs quickly. Well that about sums up our new little bundle. She is used to having her way and if she doesn't get it...look out... cause you're in trouble! She usually is very delightful though and is a clown...loves to make you laugh. Can be a cuddle bug...or not! We experienced the ultimate in shopping today as we ventured into Walmart just a few short blocks from our hotel. As we entered the store I would almost swear that what the lady at the door was saying (in Chinese of course) is "here come the Americans, get the Christmas music going" and sure as anything while we shopped they played American Christmas music, which seemed to amuse the locals as they danced around in the aisles and acted silly. A few people would practice their English when they saw us, but the communication was still lacking. I learned a valuable lesson in shopping with a busy 13 month old, never leave her within hand range of anything!! Difficult to do in a very crowded store, I was looking hard to find something and I saw out of the corner of my eye, a nice lady removing Lyndsay's hand from a glass jar she was about to pull off the shelf. Whoopsie! A group of older women approached us and were curious about Lyndsay. CCAI had given us the all important tag to hang around our neck telling them in Chinese what we were doing with this little girl, they would smile and nod their approval, we seemed to appease the "fashion police" making sure to keep Lyndsay covered at all times, not easy with a figgity baby. Finding anything at this store was a real feat, we only managed to find a couple of things we wanted, but were fascinated by the assortment of really "odd" things they had to offer. We could have had whole duck, pigeon (head and all)dried fish, seahorses or just about anything else for Thanksgiving dinner. Yummy! As we headed back, we stopped by a camera store in hopes to have a few rolls of film developed, four different people had no idea what we wanted, I tried to communicate the fact that we wanted double prints, were staying at the hotel (shown on our tag...if we get lost for them to return us there) and that we would come back the next day to pick them us.. Next thing we knew they escorted us to the hotel, laughing that we could be so lost that close to the hotel. Never did get the film processed that day! |
