| 1:30AM Lyndsay's awake, as are we, she is congested and having some trouble breathing restfully. We will have the doctor see her when he visits on Thanksgiving to see if she needs something other than the over the counter meds we brought. We started some OTC medicine later in the morning. The Tylenol we gave her broke what little fever she had and seemed to help almost immediately. She fell back to sleep for a while, I think around 5am and we got up in a stupor and gave her a bottle and put her on the potty. WOW, we could hardly believe it, she went to the bathroom almost immediately. What a different experience! We went to breakfast around 9:30 and had a nice breakfast at the hotel, she ate some solid foods, we know she needs more subtance to her diet, as her stools are a bit loose. She did eat some congi, a nasty looking rice porriage of sorts, and I think she had a tiny bit of egg. It was very difficult to watch her grieving for her foster mother, as she sat quietly in her highchair this morning we could see tears rolling down her rosy cheeks. We returned to our room and she fell back to sleep until around 10:15. We were really glad she had a nap since we had a meeting with the orpanage director at 12 and then had to leave at 2:30 to do more paperwork at the Notary's office, then off to the registration office to pay more fees. At least we won't have to continue carrying around a large sum of money since our safe in the room wasn't working properly. When we met with the assistant orphanage director, he addressed the group through our interpreter about the orphanage and various aspects of it. He seems geniunely caring for the children still there as well. We had a package to deliver to him for a little girl whose mother wasn't able to travel yet to get her, upon seeing the package for her little one, sent for her birthday, he smiled immediately upon seeing her photo and said her nickname "LaLa". He asked if we knew when her new mother was coming, but unfortunately even she doesn't know just yet. Later when we arrived home, Debbie, LaLa's mother forwarded pictures of her with her new doll and shoes at the orphanage, so we were both delighted that they made it to her. The best surprise came in the return of one of our disposable cameras, that we had high hopes would contain photos of Lyndsay with her foster mom and her surroundings. They also returned the little photo album with our pictures in it that we sent ahead for Lyndsay. It was apparent that she had received it, since it had the telltale signs of little hands all over it. We think this helps explain why she didn't cry when Bane took her, she must have recognized him and myself. Many of the nannies and foster parents will tell the children that this is your MaMa or BaBa (DaDa) making the transition much easier for the children. We did notice one big breakthrough today, the doorman extended his hands to Lyndsay as if to take her and she quickly turned her head away as if to say "No way, Buddy!" well that was sad for him I'm sure, but made us feel really good. This was a tremendous step forward in the bonding process. |
