HOW TO CONVERT MP3'S TO WAVS The best program to use to convert mp3 files to wav format is Goldwave. Download Goldwave at www.goldwave.com Once you have installed goldwave you are on track to convert your first mp3 or whatever file format to another format. Open your goldwave program (it should be found in C:Program files You will see a button/icon called open. Click on that and then navigate to find the file you would like to convert- whether you have downloaded it from Napster or in your mirc/sounds folder Double click on the file you wish to convert when u have found it. You will notice a window open and automatically start deflashing the file and then a window opens within goldwave with pretty colours on it. When you see this you are now ready to convert that file to another format and in our case from MP3 (the current format) to Wav Now click on File and then click on Save as A new Save As window opens In the file name section, type the name you wish to call this In the Save as type: scroll down with the arrow to find Wave (*.wav) format The file Attributes may be left as is or you can change it to Layer3, 22050Hz,mono,32kbps (this will save compressing the file at a later date) Once you have filled in those 3 windows click on Save The details in the window will now change to what you want. The File Attributes window will have probably changed so just click on the arrown beside file attributes and once again find MPEG Layer-3 32kBits/s,22,050 Hz,Mono (it will be very close to the bottom of the scroll window) Now click save again A small window will open called saving and converting and a red line will allow you to see the progress of the conversion When finished a window will open telling you the file has been converted and saved and asking if you want the new format updated in the Sound Window. Click yes and the sound will be reopened from the new file on disk. Your file has now been converted to a wav file. Just to be sure Click on file again and if the Save option is available click on it Thats it you have just converted your first file from MP3 format to wav format. If you find the file does not play it is usually because the file has not been named properly. All you have to do is open your C:Mirc/sounds window and rightclick on the file and then rename it remembering that you can't use spaces when playing files in mirc and ensure the file ends in .wav Your file should look something like this: (Artist)-nameofsong.wav If yoy require any more help just send me a memo in mirc or send a message to me in private and i will endeavour to help you there. Have fun and congratulations Lena
