To try and not confuse u it is best if u print this out and then just follow it thru step by
step.

Hopefully you have already downloaded mirc from web page....if u haven’t,  the site is
www.mirc.com.uk   You will find an Australian site to download from. Take a note of where the file is being downloaded to

Once you have downloaded just double click on the setup file that u downloaded and mirc will install
Once installed....open it by double clicking on the mirc32.exe file..........
 You will get a window with a
guy’s face on it...click on the *x* to exit that page.  Click on File from the menu, then
options....Down the left hand side you will see a list of categories.	
From the top:
CONNECT :  click on this ... across to your right you have a list of choices....click on
the “ADD” tab
in the description box type..   Telstra 
in the irc server box type..    irc.telstra.com  
in the ports box type...        6667 
 
then click ok.......(don’t
worry about group or password boxes)

PERSONAL DETAILS...I strongly recommend that you put a false name and false
email address in this area....as people can access this information. I have in mine    xxx
as real name xxxx as email address.....Put your nick in.....and an alternative one  if you
use more than one nickname.

CONNECT OPTIONS ...these options are your choice... just read along and don’t
worry too much cos this info can be changed at any time...

JOINING A CHANNEL (ROOM).....there are two ways to do this u can either type 
/list  or.....see the little picture of the world (well I think its a world lol) click into that 
then click on click on Get List... a list of bigpond rooms will come up
double click on the room u would like to enter.... or right click then left click on a
room name and u will get a list of options  like users list which will list who is in the
room.

This is a basic set up of mirc.....have a look around it.....but don”t delete anything  at
this stage. When u become familiar with it  I can help u with aliases/popups and
sounds.

Tips
Once connected to mirc/bigpond you will see a button up the top called status..  When
in status screen type   /ns help   and you will get heaps of info from that...  try these:
/ns info lena
/whois lena
/ns info (yournick)  that shows u what info ppl get when they do an info or whois on u
   
Using mirc is heaps of fun and don’t be scared of it...... if you get daunted or run into
problems give me a holler...... or if i am online type  /msg lena come help me pls lena  hehehehe

If i’m not online  u can type
/ms send lena  and whatever your problem is and i will get that message as soon as i
log on....
