Mac / PC Engineer

At NASA Ames Research Center, Moffet Field, I was in the position of upgrading, troubleshooting and installing software on Macintosh desktops, laptops, and PC desktops and laptops. Some of my duties included Collecting system information to update and maintain hardware inventory databases, installing vital backup software and asset management software, Updating Windows 2000 with proper service packs, Updating MS Office with proper service packs, installing all proper hot fixes to all machines, making sure Macintosh software was current and up to date, and making sure all corrupted files were replaced and all software was working for the customer.

2001 – 2002   Contract – Nortel Networks  [ Santa Clara, CA ]

PC Technician

At Nortel Networks I was in the position of cleaning up PC’s after employees left the company. Some of my duties included Collecting Dell computers and inventorying them to be reclaimed, reused, or destroyed. In this process I helped by testing equipment, repairing equipment, formatting and preparing for disposal, reimaging and fresh installing of Windows 2000 or Windows 95/98. I also worked with Toshiba, NEC and Dell laptops; preparing them for the same processes.

  • Collecting abandoned, expired and returning Dell PC’s.
  • Rebuilding, re-imaging and repairing Dell PC’s.
  • Keeping accurate inventory and shipping out PC’s, Monitors and other equipment.

 

2000 – 2001   BEA Systems  [ San Jose, CA ]

Systems Administrator (Approx. 4,000+ users world wide)

At BEA I was doing 50% desktop and 50% helpdesk support. We used MS Outlook, Eudora, Netscape mail, MS Office, Win 3.1, 95, 98, 98SE, NT, and 2000 workstation and server, Sun Solaris Server, DHCP, DNS, Secure ID, Safe Word, IPass, Nortel Networks, Clarify, Peoplesoft, and many other types of software. I set up accounts, worked on printer setup and trouble shooting in UNIX. BEA has over 150 servers worldwide.

  • Troubleshoot remote dial in users.

Helpdesk (Approx. 700 users)

At Lifeguard I was doing about 90% helpdesk and about 10% desktop support. We used MS Outlook, MS Office, Win NT, SMS, MS Exchange Server, printing and software issues. Lifeguard had over 10 servers in CA.
